The Thai Master is home
Yesterday afternoon, WHN brought home The Thai Master's ashes. Dad got the call while the pack was working on their napping and WHN went by herself to bring her tough guy home for the final time. As with Ginger, she also had a pawprint done which will become a necklace charm, and a small envelope of his fur. Thai is safe with Ginger oon WHN's bedroom dresser. Miss marcia had asked if he could be buried at her farm and we agreed- that will probably occur next week.

RAINBOW BRIDGE ALERT- The Thai Master (6 August 1996 - 25 June 2012)
This morning at 11 AM, WHN helped The Thai Master to the Rainbow Bridge. He had started having problems a couple of days ago, and today started throwing up- first his meds and then a lot of foam. We rushed him to the vet, who told WHN and Dad that his lungs were full of liquid again and that his liver was failing. Nothing more could be done, so he went to the Bridge, full of spunk and vinegar! RIP Tough Guy- Mama and Daddy miss you!

The Thai Master!
Chip getting a tummy rub while Thai supervises
Yesterday we missed Corbin's birthday celebration and Pitbull Day- we are sorry for that and we will post tomorrow! Our excuse is a good one- Thai went on a trip to visit Miss Marcia, his original DRNA foster Mom! Miss Marcia lives on a beautiful farm about an hour away, so we loaded up the DWM for this trip- Everyone has been to Miss Marcia's with the exception of Anna Rose! Thai lived with Miss Marcia for almost two years, and loved living at her farm- he would go on walkabouts down to the barn where he would sit under the bush in these pictures and catch swallows as they flew near him, just for a snack! As you can see in these photos, Thai has a way with the ladies, belly band and all! Anna Rose wandered all over loving it, and had a great grass snack under Thai's bush. Tasha worked on her running for BLogville's upcoming Olympics- she even outraced Chip!
WHN has kept in close touch with Miss Marcia the entire time Thai has ruled the DWM pack- we have several visits a year at either our home or Thai's other home- MIss Marcia's house! WHN has kept her up to date on all of Thai's medical issues and adventures also, but it was still a shock for her to see how he was unable to walk without any kind of help and that he can't stand without help any more. He chowed down at lunch time and shared his treats with the DWM and Miss Marcia's pack. His physical decline has been gradual, but we could see it, and even though Miss Marcia and her husband knew of it, seeing it first hand was still hard for them- they love Thai as much a we do. Our Energizer Dachshund had a great day- trying to walk and succeeding better than could be expected. He slept on the trip home and had a great night, snoring away! This morning, he walked down to the driveway after answering the call of nature and leaving a "Thai pile" for Dad on the lawn. While waiting for his slaves to feed him, he wandered over to the back door in the office/train room, and peed standing up, as if nothing was wrong! He has not been able to do this for over a month! (He has to pee sitting down outside and in his belly band inside) The Vasotec is helping him, and we are thankful for this extra time!

The Thai Master- Friday Update
WHN (and Dad concurs) is of the strong opinion that the heart medicine is starting to work for The Thai Master! Now, there is nothing more that can be done other than this medicine for Thai, so what time he has is borrowed. When we brought him home from the vet Wednesday, Dad went out and brought him his favorite dinner- chicken strips! WHN tore them into Thai bite size pieces and he wolfed them down, WHILE SITTING ON HER LAP! He never does that and he never eats without trying to include WHN's fingers with the food! The photo is from last night, where you see The Thai Master cuddling on WHN's lap- another thing he never allows! He was on the couch and her lap for almost an hour and she didn't even cry! He has slept through the night since Monday, when WHN put gel packs under his bed liners and he continues to sleep through the night. He is breathing more easily, and is less fussy. He is eating like a champ also, and he does take care of his business outside and manages to fill his belly band once a day. Monday we take him to visit Miss Marcia, his original foster mom and girlfriend extraordinaire

The Thai Master
The Thai Master appears to be on the mend! He finally went outside late yesterday afternoon and left a "pile" on the front lawn. This, of course, made WHN very happy, especially as his tummy also felt a bit damp! He wolfed down his dinner- not as quickly as in the past, but he ate the entire contents of the bowl, kibble, canned, Milk Bone treats and all! He slept through the night, again with the cooler gel packs underneath his bed liner, and he woke us up at 6 to take care of business. After breakfast, which he again devoured, he started to fuss and his Belly band was full! He just had his Vetri Liver and glucosamine treats, and is walking the perimeter- guarding the kitchen and living room from all enemies foreign and domestic. He is still going to the VET at 3:45- WHN is going to insist on antibiotics for his abcessed tooth and will make an appointment for its removal. Thank you Blogville for your kind thoughts and prayers!

The Thai Master- Update!
1253 hrs EST- His Majesty, The Thai Master is sleeping right in front of his floor fan. At 10 AM EST, he ate his Vetri Liver vitamin and his two glucosamine treats. He also drank a lot of water before going right back to sleep. His belly band is still bone dry, so we are working on getting him to drink more water.
UPDATED!!!! Power of the Paw needed, please- The THAI MASTER
Hope everyone had a great Memorial Day!
Over the weekend, The Thai Master has taken a turn for the worse- While he has started sleeping a lot longer and walking far less, this last weekend was a terrible one for him. Bedtime has become a nightmare as it now takes him till1 0r 2 AM to settle down- Sunday night neither he nor us slept a wink- we could not get him to sleep, and he kept panting loudly. It was so bad that I had Geoff sleep in another room just so he could get some rest. WE even tried having Thai sleep in his Command Center (the kitchen) but his fussing was so loud that we gave up and finally had to let him walk around on the bedroom floor the rest of the night. We don;t know what triggered this, it was a hot night but the previous night was far hotter and we had the fans going for him, which always has worked in the past. He had been outside for over four hours walking in the grass and disrupting the outdoor train layout- he caused quite a few derailments. We had thought that the exercise would make him sleep- instead it just riled him up. No amount of medication could calm him down either. Yesterday he did not eat his breakfast nor his dinner- he had trouble chewing his VetriLiver and his glucosamine treats. His belly bands have been dry for 24 hours- no output at all this morning when we took him out. He did eat his canned food, but not his kibble. He falls asleep when he is taken outside to potty, and we have to wake him up. He is drinking water- loads of it- we have to hold the bowl for him so that he doesn't spill it. Yesterday, from 10 AM until 10:30 PM he stayed on his bed, right in front of the floor fan. He drank some but refused his diner. We are trying to get him in to see Dr. Parker today or tomorrow. Please pray for our Tough Guy.
UPDATE- The Thai Master sees Dr. Parker tomorrow at 3:45. (She is not in today) He is sleeping in the office, near the computer desk as he usually does. Hopefully this is just heat related, but if so, we can't figure out the extreme reaction to it- we had the fans going and the ac, and his pain pills gave him no relief. Last night, WHN put six gel packs from a cooler underneath his favorite bed liner and he slept the whole night through.

Prayer REquest- URGENT!!! The Thai Master, aka Captain Belly Band
While WHN has been properly chained to Bella (her BabyLock Ellure Plus, which she finally named!!!), and Dad was busy working on finding a job, The Thai Master, Captain Belly Band has had a very unusual day- While Blogville knows that he has Cushings, he has been very active and basically very fussy. Well, not today- he wolfed down his breakfast and took his pill pocket full of medicine, but then he spent most of the day sleeping on the floor in the train room. *He NEVER sleeps on the floor- he has a bed in that room and woe falls upon any miscreant who gets on it!) Usually, he fusses and is very demanding of our time, even though he does not like to be held, be on the couch, sleep in the Big Bed, etc- he just wants to be waited on hand and paw. Not until a little after six tonight did we suspect anything was different- usually he lets us know, starting around 4:30, that he needs his dinner and he needs it now (dinner has been moved up to 5 PM to accommodate Captain Belly Band)
Well, for the first time since he came to live with us, he did not eat his dinner- in fact, when I gave him Tasha's leftover breakfast kibble, he didn't eat that either. He fell asleep in his bowl and we had to keep Ginger and Chip away, which caused a ruckus resulting in Chip biting GEoff again. His belly band is dry and he hasn't peed or asked to go out since we can't remember (his routine is in and out multiple times a n hour) We put him outside, but he did not go, but scarfed down some water- he licked at his canned dinner, but fell asleep in his bowl. we are going to try to get him to Dr. Parker tomorrow, if she can squeeze him in, but we don;t know what is wrong - We don''t know if the Cushings can kick in this suddenly, but please keep Thai in your prayers- I feel terrible since I was so caught up today that I completely failed to notice a damned thing about Thai and I just pray that this isn't the beginning of the end.

Gotcha Day for Thai!
TWO YEARS- that is how long it has been since The Thai Master, Thai the Magnificent, condescended to live with us! As all of you know, it has been a roller coaster with Thai's medical issues, but we are blessed to have him living with us, belly bands and all! (The Cushings is becoming more pronounced- his walking is becoming more awkward and he has to drag himself more, but he is still in fighting form for his next bout of championship eating!) Happy Gotcha Day, tough guy!

The Thai Master Update
His Majesty, Thai the Magnificent, had to undergo the horrors of the VET on Monday! He had his bloodwork done and What's Her Name picked up this month's Vetoryl. His Cortisol levels is DOWN- to 6.2 from 8.3 last month! His weight is holding strong at 21.4 lbs. Tasha also went to the vet and received all of the shots necessary- rabies, and the distemper combo. Ginger and Chip also received the distemper combo so they can go to the Medina pool pawty being held in honor of the Mayor of Blogville's furst wedding anniversary. What's her Name is in yet another dither over this- the bathroom is newly painted as is the area by the front door. No one know what the next project will be, and all we hear her muttering is "The Mayor is Coming"! Hopefully , His Mayorallness will forgive her freaking out- it is just what we have to live with everyday! (The painting is why we haven't been blogging too much)
What's Her Name and Dad took us on walkies last night and this morning- the weather has been in the 70s! This morning, His Majesty announced to the world that he wanted to walk, and he did- What's Her Name had to take him out of his command center throne TWICE so that he could walk - He managed about a quarter of a mile in total, and What's Her Name put him in his therapy pool to cool down afterwards. (His pool is a blow up she bought from WalMart last year and is finally getting used!)

Thai Monday Update
Thai's blood work results are back- his cortisol is much higher than before, so he will be on the Lydosene, and have his blood checked again next Monday. What's Her Name took us with her to the vet to pick up the prescription and then to WalMart to have it filled. THEN, she stopped at McDonald's for a delish snackeroonie- we got chicken nuggets! (We had to share a box of 10) Thai was so sxcited, he followed WHN into Dad's train room and ate his snackies there! He wolfed them down! Ginger of course ate hers slowly, and Chip followed the example set by Thai.
He had a good weekend, even though he saw the VET, and his appetite was a little off. He is still guarding the kitchen zealously, and also stays in his throne for crate rest. He is sleeping through the night, first on the Big Bed and then his his upstairs throne.
Ginger and Chip are hanging in and keeping Thai company at night. They know he is sick right now, and are making sure he is loved!
Please keep Thai in your prayers

Thai
Thai modelling his belly band! This is the second one, and has a "wing" in the front. Thai is still yelping in pain this morning, but thankfully not as much as last night.

Thai update
His Majesty, Thai the Magnificent, received his first belly bands from Pammer's Petwear. He was so impressed, that he issued a patent of nobility for its proprietess, and she is henceforth to be known as Lady Phyllis of the Isle of PAmmer.
His Majesty is also peeing a lot (the first belly band was well broken in yetserday!), but is experiencing pain- he yelps if, upon entering the kitchen behind him, he turns his head and or body to see you. Also tonight he started yelping while settling into his bed in the train room for a post prandial snooze. Anyone have any ideas as to what this is? He sees the vet Saturday for a follow up on his medication for Cushings, and we gave him a second pain pill half an hour ago.

Santa Paws!!!!

Thai's First Christmas with us!

Ginger telling Santa what she really wants!
Saturday, What's her Name and Dad took us to see Santa Paws! Thai dressed up like the great man himself, even outshining him to such a degree that his photo had to be retaken! Ginger and Chip were old hands at this, since they went through it last year, which was Chip's first Christmas with us. This year, it is Thai's first Christmas! Then, we had a snackielicious treat at McDonald's before we had What's Her Name and Dad take us Christmas shopping- we had to pick up Dad's gifts from us before Mom forgot (or before another snow stomr hit) We had saved up over 87 million green papers for these gifts too- we have a very stingy allowance. Then we went home and guarded these gifts while we were cruelly abandoned so our pawrents could do some more shopping at WalMart.
Sunday was ho hum- Ginger peed under the tree again, and Dad was not happy- he had to take apart his layout and move the tree so the bed sheet could get washed again. Then Mom and Dad went into the crawl space to find MORE Christmas stuff and then they put it on the tree- now they have to find the star. Thai has his own orament- a glass dachshund from Target. We also had to go out and get gas in the car and to the library so Mom could get her book- the last book of the Twilight series. Mom is weird- she LOVES vampire, werewolf and zombie movies! (more on this later)
Today, while the 87 feet of snow hit Ohio (pray for Frankie- too many snow man poops are coming down and he is getting more than we are), Mom is going to do laundry, wrap our gifts for Dad and finally write out their Christmas cards! Hopefully Dad will be home soon- a train derailed again at the Willard hump yard and he had to go out even earlier than usual in the snow storm.
Back to Mom- she read the entire book in one day- 756 pages long! Yes, Mom is a super reader, but when she really gets into something like this, she just reads up a storm- took her till 11 PM last night (she started at 1:30 in the afternoon, and folded laundry and helped Dad too).
Anyway, Mom got hurt a long time ago, when she was 14, and this has always made her very unhappy. She was watching the Twilight movies last week (her BFF has been bugging her to watch them and read the books) and she started to cry and could not stop Thursday and Friday. It was very weird for us- she was so unhappy and none of us could fix it for her, not even Dad. She even started to write down what was making her unhappy and she gave it to Dad to read Saturday, and Mom started to cry even more. See, the movies and books triggered the memories of what happened when she got hurt, even some she had not remembered all these years, and she and Dad talked all weekend. She had a lot of hurt and anger to talk about and how she felt like used goods, and about how her world had been shattered and only Dad had ever made her feel special and like a lady. (Dad knew most of this anyway- ) It's one of the reasons she won't have anything to do with her brothers and sisters- Mom has been seeing doctors for several years now and it has helped, but this Twilight stuff really made a difference for her this last weekend. She didn't have any nightmares Saturday or Sunday either. She told Dad he was very much like Edward AND Jacob, but without being a vampire or werewolf, and he knew what she meant. See, when Mom gets depressed, she cries a lot, and tries to hide it from Dad, like she did Thrusday and Friday, but he always knows. She said having us around all day helps even more- we lick away her tears and keep her warm and afe- especially Chip. When Mom cries, he gets very protective, just like Jacob! Anyway- that's what has been bothering Mom - it doesn't happen every week, but when her depression hits, it comes out of nowhere now and can last a long time. Don't worry- she has been getting better- she is not taking medicine either, and she is starting to heal - She had thought she was over this, but the saga triggered something buried very deep down and made her face up to it so she could put it to rest once and for all.
