The Treasure of Squeaky Toy Island, Chapter 1- by Mr Geoff

The Treasure of Squeaky Toy Island
Chapter 1

Ahrrrr! 'Twas a dark and stormy night aboard the pretty good ship Rawhide. Aft on the wagging fantail stood Captain Snoopy, a steady paw on the helm, guiding his edible...ah venerable craft over the sort of choppy waves.
Not your typical sea dachshund, (mine, maybe, but not yours), Captain Snoopy was still no stranger to a good sea battle. He and his furry crew had just narrowly escaped plunder by that most feared of Wienerkings, Ernie the Red.
As the ship rolled, Captain Snoopy showed no fear. Good thing he'd packed his thunder shirt. Between howls of wind, and the howls of his crew, Captain Snoopy could just about make out the dark furry figure ascending the ladder-well.
Holding a free paw above his eyes, Captain Snoopy bellowed, “Advance and identify yeself!”
“Captain, 'tis I! Frankie LaFoot, the four-foot Pirate!”
“Ahoy Bowsun Frankie! I trust our booty is safe in the hold!”
“Aye, Captain. We're in the teeth of a boomin' Gale!”
Far up on the prow, the paw-carved figuresnoot Anna Rose stared into the endless sea, her brown, paw-painted eyes seeming to say, “Daddy come catch me!”
Back on the fantail, Captain Snoopy said, “Bowsun, muster the crew!”
“Aye, Cap'n!”
Frankie tried several times to hold the silver pipe with both paws, but after failing on the third attempt, he simply raised his snoobido, and cupped his paws over it as he howled “Ah, oowh-ah!”
Chains rattled around necks, and paws trod across the decks. Captain Snoopy looked down, and said, “Ahoy, mateys! There's fixing to be a gale tonight, but we have to reach squeaky toy island tonight, before Ernie the red! Navigator Muffin, what's our next landfall?”
“Blue Platinum rock, Cap'n.”
“Ahr! Ye didn’t say Blue Platinum Rock?”
“I did, Cap'n.”
“Hold your floppy ears, mateys, or we're going aground!”
Frankie held his paws to his ears, and said, “We'll be blue-beered for sure!”

Many miles away (okay, the other end of the pond) was the craggy islet of Blue Platinum Rock. Here lie the home of those dreaded of all sea creatures, the flop-eared fishtails, also known as the furmaids. These beauties of the sea would lure unsuspecting mariners to a terrible fate on the rocky shore. And if they thought that was bad, next morning's hangover was even worse. Never mix light beer with Cheetos. But I digress.
Upon the rock sat two fine maidens of the sea, Tasha and Puddles, keeping a sharp lookout. Well, okay, Tasha was keeping a sharp lookout, while Puddles tested the beer and Cheetos, making sure they were “safe”.
After licking her cheesy paws clean, Puddles opened another blue-bottle beer, and said, “You need one?”
“Nein!”
Puddles looked at her watch and said, “No, quarter to eight. So, any ships in the area?”
“I see something.”
“What do you see?”
Tasha squinted through her spyglass, and said, “I can't tell. It's too small.”
“No wonder. You're looking in the wrong end.”
Embarrassed, Tasha spun the telescope around, and said, “Now, that's something!”
She handed the scope to Puddles, who looked through the eyepiece, and said, “I see it, too.”
“What is it?” , Tasha asked.

“It's...................................”

We got MAIL!

our backyard neighbor, Barney
We have been getting mail!~  First was a great card from our future sis in law, Amber Da Weenie (or should that really be Amber Da Queenie?) and the rest of the Da Weenie pack!  Then Lily Belle and Muffin, Tasha's spiritual cousins and look alike, sent a card with their GAWJUS photos- Chip was just drooling over the ladies!.  Then yesterday, the Mayor of BLogville himself and Sure Shot, Jr., his little brother, sent us a pawsonally pawtographed card wishing us well in our new home!  The mailman knows us quite well as do our neighbors!  WHN included a picture of the beagle who lives adjacent to our backyard- Tasha just goes off the deep end when she sees him- she has to be put back inside!  Anna Rose barks at him and Chip and he are trying to be friends- Tasha must be missing her Shiloh!

It has been quite hot here- in the mid 90s and the AC hasn't worked since we moved in!  It was repaired last week and broke again and a repairman was unable to come until yesterday and can't fix it until parts are ordered!  Maybe it will be fixed by next Wednesday!  At least we have a floor fan and Dad bought another one last night to use in the bedroom- it has been too hot for our night time swalk but we get our morning one in! WHN and Dad are almost done emptying the card board movers boxes, and should have that done this weekend!  Then they get to conquer the plastic crates!  The family room/tv room is set up- now all they have left is to paint the panelling yellow to make the room look nice and bright- we spend most of our day in here and it is right next to the kitchen!  WHN's sewing room is set up and now she just needs to find some of her fabrics so she can get started on the Slimmer Purrs Christmas stockings, and a couple of quilts promised for auction for the WDA and Mona and Weenie in texas, and to finally start talking/blogging and sewing the two quilts for the family in Idaho who lost 14 dachsies in that house fire back in June!

Our car goes into the shop Monday and next week both WHN and Dad get their MO drivers licenses!  We have a special surprise about that to share, but not until we have photos!  Tomorrow they go to Sears to have their eyes examined- maybe Sears runs a special and includes heads?  Just sayin!  Also, our new full size refrigerator arrives Monday!

We have been busy and have kept WHN on her toes, as you can see!  At least she isn't slacking off about feeding us on time!

Aren't Lily Belle and Muffin GAWJUS!

Mayor Frankie Furter Price- UPDATED!!!!

Today is the day for which Blogville has waited with baited breath!  Today is Mayor Frankie Furter Day!  At the behest of Miss Ruthie and the K9 Katastrophie, May 25th is Frankie Furter Day, in honor of his outstanding contributions to making Blogville the place that it is today.

His Honor has always been there for all of Blogville's residents, and especially for their peeps.  We, the DWM, met HH when we began blogging back in October 2009- he was our very first follower and we started following him. He was enthusiastic as our pack grew in size, and when Dad lost his job last August, he and his peeps were there for WHN and Dad.  When WHN started quilting again after a 20+ year hiatus, Miss L, the Furst Mom of Blogville, and Frankie were her greatest supporters.  We also had the honor and privilege of meeting His Honor and his peeps in the furs- that was a great day!  We watched as he adopted and raised ERnie- what a fine pup he has become.  We were there when he wed the two beauties from Canada, Mesdames Ruby and Penny- they shared their love and joy with all of us and have always been there when dark clouds have gathered in our lives, both peep and four legger. When Ginger died, WHN's first response was to reach out to HH and the Furst Mom and they were there for her (as was all of BLogville)  Today is Frankie's Day- may it be filled with milk bones, treats and squirrel chasing.

UPDATED!-  WHN wants to remind everyone that without Miss L, Furst Mom of BLogville and His Honor, the Fearless Five Quilt would never have happened!  WHN and Miss L had been emailing, tossing around ideas, and the brainstorm for the Fearless Five quilt came from Miss Lana herself.  She insisted that it be done and was tireless in asking Blogville for help and fabric!

Wednesday - the horror of it all

Today, we were cruelly abandoned by our servants for the WHOLE DAY!!!!!  Dad took the day off from work to take what's her name to Cleveland, for THREE medical related visits, and THEY LEFT US HOME ALONE!!!!!!!  It was horrible- we were fed breakfast, bread and water, and then they LEFT US!!!!

But, we got back at them-  there were tons of puddles and presents from us when they came home aroun 7 PM.  It took what's her name over half an hour to clean it all up, and she never said a word.  Serves her right!!!

Seems that what's her name is going to have bariatric surgery in January, and had to see a head doctor, the surgeon, and a dietician.  Mom has tried for years to lose weight that she put on since her late 20s, but it only makes it worse.  Even her swimming isn't enough, so her primary care doctor told her to look into it.  (Now we know why there are so few pictures of her!)  She starts a new diet tomorrow, and goes back next week and again in December to see the dietician.  She has to keep up and even increase her swimming and we now know that we will be doing walkies more often every day- at least twcie with Mom and then a third time with Mom and Dad.  Mom and Dad see the surgeon again on January 5th and then the surgery will be the last week of January or the first week of February.  Now we know why she has been so nervous and depressed this summer!!

In really good news, His Majesty, Frankie Furter Price, was the Daily Doxie today!!!!  We at the DWM have already held this prestigious honor, as has Her Majesty, Twix the Twixerific.  Now, the Royal Greatness of the Blogosphere holds the title, one which he truly deserves.  Now, his wives will be Queens of the Blogosphere, instead of the wives aof a mere mayor.

In Puddles news (aka She Who Must Be Obeyed), Her Imperial Greatness will someday be honored with the Daily Doxie award, but we think she has to join the site first!!!

Frankie has a new game

Frankie Furter, the hero of dachshunds and dogs everywhere, has a new game.  Remember at Thanksgiving, we had to write our adoption stories.  Now, for the 4th of July, the Name of the Game is the NAME GAME.  Frankie wants to now how we got our names.  Thai, Taz, Ginger and Chip will be playing!!  Will you?

Would anyone think it silly or otherwise if the Dachsies With Moxie sponsor a fundraiser for Thai's sister Sissy?  She needs IVDD surgery and we all know how expensive that surgery can be.  PLEASE email suggestions to MOM use HER email address trainwife1962 at hotmail dot com

Thai is having problems with his right rear leg again- Mom and Dad had to help him support himself when he got up from his nap an hour ago.  Please keep Thai also in your prayers!!!!  He goes to the VET tomorrow.

Taz arrives sometime on Thursday afternoon!!!!  Then he gets to go to the VET!!!

It's Frankie's Fault!!!

Everyone knows how Mom is.  Well, when the kitchen floor was being installed, she took us to Pet Supplies Plus for a treat, which cost her LOTS of green papers.  While there, she saw this huge display of Greenies, Frankie's favorite treat for keeping our teeths and breaths clean (as if they were dirty!!!)  Anyway, Mom bought us a bag and also individually wrapped Greenies for the car.  Boy were they good!!!  Now we have to have them FIRST THING in the morning, after we come in from outside.  CHIP even likes them and he is very particular about his treats

Then we sent to PetSmart and she bought them AGAIN for the car ride home- how did she know?  Then on Saturday, Mom and Dad took us to Petco, and AGAIN, Mom bought us some more Greenies.  (She also stocked up on the Breathbusters and the fruit snacks we love)

Yes, we love Greenies, and if Frankie did not mention them on his blog, we would never had tried them.  Thanks Frankie!!!!

Wedding Gifts for Frankie and the Girrrrls

Does anyone know where Frankie and his brides to be are registering?   We are thinking of getting them a "major Award" leg lamp from the movie "A Christmas Story"   We hear that Frankie's two leggers like it- would shed some light on the upcoming nuptials.

Spring is in the air!!!!

Now, while we have not lived in Ohio until last August, we were unaware of some of the earliest signs to be found in Ohio.  Thanks to Franky Furter Price and his blog- one of the signs is robins!!!!!  We saw three males today in the front yard and one was huge!!!!  They flew off, so that must mean they are enroute to Frankie's place!

Trouble in Ohio

Thanks to Frankie Furter, we know that there is a HUGE snow storm heading our way!!!!  Frankie says we can expect 87 feet of the stuff, after we got rid of it all (until it snowed again this week)

What a way to start our trip- Mom looked up the storm on Drudge, and we are driving right through it tomorrow- Won't miss out on the snow until we hit SC!!!!!  Help- Pray that the 87 million feet of snow doesn't start until after everyone is home from work!!!
