Guess what we are doing!
No, you are not seeing double, but double dapple! That's right, we are fostering a double dapple dachsie named Lenny for DRNA for a couple of weeks while his new peeps are on vacation! (His new name is Lenny, but DRNA had named him Omar) He will be living in St Charles, only a few minutes away from us and he is gorgeous! He is bigger than Snoopy and is only two years old. Hates being on a leash but is willing to work on it, and house breaking is still an issue but he tries! He loves sleeping in the big bed with the DWM and their slaves, and gets along quite well with the guys. Dad adores him and is adored in return- Lenny's tail swishes whenever he hears Dad's voice! He gobbles down his food, and "helps" the others with theirs, as Chip learned this morning. Loves car rides and being a pack member- still leary of Tasha, but he is already following WHN around with Snoopy and Chip- this morning's shower was a big surprise- he and Snoopy were sitting right there waiting for her to finish! He has the sweetest face and the most gorgeous smile. He and two litter mates were dumped at a shelter in Illinois- and one brother died soon after going inot rescue. Lenny has one undevolped eye and can see somewhat and has limited hearing, but he is one happy and loving ball of fur! He loves being on the couch or on your lap! Please welcome Lenny to Blogville!

What a weekend- and it is only Saturday!
Dear Blogville,
We have just returned home from our newest adventure! That's right, we just did one leg of a DRNA transport for one lucky dachshund named NEMO! He is going to his furever home in Oklahoma, but his foster home was in Illinois! Nemo is a standard black and tan boy and WHN loved him- she reminded her of The Thai Master! We drove to Litchfield, Illinois to pikc him up, and then took him to St Louis for the next leg of his journey! He will be travelling for just over twelve hours today, and we had him for the third leg- just over an hour long. Snoopy went a litle crazy (of course) but he setled down . Chip and Tasha made friends, and everyone slept while WHN drove. We had fun helping a fellow dchsie get to his furrever home- hope his new pawrents let him blog!

His Name is SNOOPY- Blogville has a new Residenet!!!
We, the DWM, would like to introduce to Blogville its newest resident, our DRNA foster brother SNOOPY!!! He joined us last night and fits in quite well with us! While he has not eaten yet, he does like pizza crust and takes treats from WHN quite nicely, no teeth at all! He chose to sleep on the couch instead of in the big bed but we know that he will be joining us there soon. He is about 7 years old and just returned to the rescue after only a year- his previous "owners" moved to NY and could not find a pet friendly home AND what WHN thinks is even worse, used a PRONG COLLAR on him for walkies! He is a red and white piebald tweenie, and needs to lose a couple of pounds but that won't take long here at Camp DWM! He LOVES Dad and follows him everywhere! He reminds WHN of Ginger- the snausagey body and tail, the lovely fur.... Tasha scares him with her bark, and he is skittish with loud sounds, but he will adjust easily to life here. He will be going for training at PetSmart as he needs some socialization assistance but does very well in the car and on the leash- he is a puller and is very strong!
We learned of him only Tuesday and of course WHN said yes, without thinking- now, will she make it three in a row and fail yet again as a foster mom?
Welcome Snoopy! !

DRNA transport
MOM was part of a transport effort to get two DRNA dachsies, the beautiful Daisy and the feisty Gunner, from their foster home in Illinois to their furrever homes in NJ (Daisy) and Connecticut (Gunner). Both dachsies were brought here to our home, and MOm had to drive them 87 thousand miles to Pennsylvania, to the DRNA rep, Dona. Then she had to drive them to her home, where Daisy's Mom and Dad picked them up late last night and drove all night back to NJ. They were supposed to pick them up today, letting Daisy and Gunner get a good night's sleep, but they could not stand the idea of spending one more day dachshund free!!! Could you? This was Mom 's first transport, and we think she did fine. She had to leave us home, but Gunner and Daisy met us first and they slept in the car on the trip to PA>
Daisy is a 4 year old BLack and Tan piebald longhair, and Gunner is a red smooth one year old kisser. Their pictures are still up at DRNA so hurry for a look at these beauties.

DRNA
Seems that Mom and Dad's application to foster dachsies for DRNA might be approved. We heard from Dona Jo Snow, our foster mom, and it looks like we will be working with her as a dachsie refuge!!! I heard Mom tell Dad that we are going to need an industrial strength rug shampooer as the Dachsie Bot is wearing out. (The Dachsie Bot is the so called Spot Bot that gets dragged out every time one of us re-marks the rugs- yes, we are potty trained, but come on. Ginger is the bigger culprit here, and specializes in re-marking right after she has water or has come in from answering a call from nature) Dachshunds have sensitive bladders, didn't you know?
Dad had to work again last night, so we stayed up protecting Mom. We took turns under cover, so to speak, and got Mom up at 7 this morning when Dad got home. She gave us nice treats to thank us, while she fixed Dad some scrambled eggs and toast. Ginger supervised in the Mom Cave, and I got some shut eye on the back of the couch. Right now, Dad is getting some shut eye, and we are in the computer chair helping Mom on the computer. She keeps hinting that there really needs to be a bigger office chair made- like the bed there is barely any room for her in the chair!!!
Mom and Dad decided that the new dachsies are going to share our bed- something about being cruel and unusual punishment if this did not happen.
