Chapter 14
Snoopy looked at Walter and said, "What's going on?"
Walter frantically pushed the accelerator, and the Duk engine roared, then sputtered again, and conked out.
Behind them, the waves were closing fast. Walter tried several times to restart the DUK, but the engine wouldn't turn over.
Snoopy saw the waterspout, far off but closing, and he said, "What are we going to do?"
Walter grabbed the wheel, put the DUK in neutral, and said, "I've still got enough speed, I'll steer us for that island over there. If we hit the beach with enough speed on the wheels, I'll pop the clutch and see if she starts."
"What if she doesn't?" Snoopy asked.
"She can still float", Walter said, grabbing the radio microphone. "Duk to Ranger, do you read, over! Duk to Ranger, do you read, over!"
High above them, the blimp was still drifting along. Tasha stood beside the open door, looking down at the DUK, and said, "I think they're in trouble."
"How can you tell?" Shasta asked.
"Because they're turning toward that island over there."
Shasta moved the throttles forward, pressed the rudder pedal, and said, "Let's go help them!"

I hope it works to go to that island... such sputtering engines are dangerous :o)... and I hope there is a way to fix it and they haven't to stay on that island like Mr. Robinson Crusoe :lo)

Good thing Walter is such a quick thinker. We hope it works and they get going once they are on the island.
