Pets on Quilts 2013- Starts today!!!!!

Today is the start of the Pets on Quilts contest!  From 11 August 2013 through 17 August 2013 contestants post their beloved pet themed quilt projects or pets modelling on quilts, for the blogosphere to view and judge!  Voting commences on 18 August 2013 and runs for a week.  The rules have changed this year- WHN is able to enter only one category!!!  You are going to be surprised at the category she chose for this year's entry so I wil be turning over the microphone to Blogville's favorite SpokesDachshund, Snoopy!!!!!!  Commenters are also eligible for prizes- Milo, Dixie and Newby's mom won last year for commenting!

Snoopy helping WHN quilting
Good morning Blogville! Snoopy here, to announce this year's entry in the Pets on Quilts contest!!!  Now, Blogville is well aware that WHN (What's Her Name) has had a tough year with our move and adopting me, and then taking in and "fostering" Honey and Hershey (more on them later this week- promise) - then to top off a challenging year, her PTSD and depression reappeared and while both are under control with medication,  she is having another episode so I have my paws full keeping her in line.   No one told me when I agreed to move in that my job was to keep WHN happy and healthy- I want combat pay!

Anyway, the category for this year is CATS ON QUILTS!!!!!    Shocking, I know, for dachshund devotees as WHN and Dad are, but last year, our feline friends were not represented in WHN's entries!

WHN had been commissioned late last year to make pawsonalized Christmas stockings of the Slimmer Purrs and they came out so well that these stockings are the official entry!!!!!  Let's see what WHN made!

There are five Slimmer Purrs- Golden, Luna, Jack, Percy and Socks.  Mama Mindy sent WHN photos of each Kitty and each stocking bears an applique portrait of its owner.

Dad is graciously modelling the stockings for us- he is a top model and very expensive!  Beer and Cheetohs don't come cheap!  (Just ask Puddles his BFF)

Knowing how our two leggers are, WHN made Mama  Mindy a matching stocking so that she would not feel left out!

WHN used the candy cane alphabet from Embroidery Library on each cuff, as well as a cat stack Christmas pattern for Mama Mindy's stocking.  The fabric is a Christmas cat fabric from Joann's, and each stocking is lined in the green used in the cuffs. The stockings are quilted and the batting used was a polyester.  Each took approximately four hours to make- from the applique pattern making to the applique itself to the embroidery and the quilting, to the final construction.

SOCKS- photo and stocking

Please visit the Pets on Quilts   and leave a Blogville comment for each entrant!  It takes a lot of courage to share one's creativity on the blogosphere, and we the Dachsies With Moxie want all the entrants to know how much their talent is appreciated!  Don't foget to vote starting next week!  Maybe WHN will win this year (it was a very closely contested contest last year!)

So, off you go!  Am exhausted from taking care of WHN, so I will now curl up in my own pawmade quilt that I helped make and catch 40 winks while you visit all of the other entries!

Don't forget to vote starting next Sunday!
