Gracie Lynn Memorial Peace Rose Planting Tutorial
If anyone has any questions as to how wonderful a place BLogville is, please watch this video from the Slimmer Pugs and Purrs- They recently lost their beloved Gracie Lynn, and this is how the White Dog Army helped their momma heal! (The WDA also did something similar when Ginger, Thai and Anna Rose left us last year for the Rainbow Bridge- we have no idea how WHN would have gotten over her grief without the WDA's thoughtfulness, and on top of that, the WDA lost two of its members this year- Quinn two months ago and Nuka just days after Gracie Lynn)

Some news!!!! AND in honor of Benny!
Snoopy here, reporting from the wilds of St Louis County in Missouri- as some of you may have surmised already, due to our noticeable absence from Blogville, WHN has again been struggling with her evil twin, which decided to return late in July. She has been taking her medication faithfully, but it was decided yesterday by her doctor that her dosage needs to be increased incrementally to keep her evil twin away for good. On top of that, she tore the meniscus tendon of her right knee as well as the tendon that goes across the kneecap- she took a spill in the backyard, falling on her left side, but her right knee and ankle were damaged by the fall. She is so talented when it comes to falling- we won't even bore you with how graceful she was as she hit the ground, or how many HBO words we did not hear as she got herself up. She has to stay completely off of her right leg, so I have been busy keeping her on the couch, and making sure that she does not get up without help. She can use her sewing room and will be learning how to sew without the foot pedal so that she can finally finish the placemats for the Blogville auction winners!
Now for the really impawtant news here in Missouri- as you are well aware, WHN and Dad have "successfully" fostered six dachshunds over the years for DRNA, in addition to Angel Ginger and Chip, who had been adopted outright by them without having to undergo the indignity of being fostered first. Tasha and Angel Thai can attest to the horrors of being fostered by WHN and Dad before being adopted- the suffering that entailed is not to be spoken of in mixed company! The first foster was of course Angel Thai, followed by Taz, then Tasha, and then Snoopy, Lenny and Honey here in Missouri. (Taz and Lenny were temporary fosters who were waiting for their adoptive parents to return from vacation) AS you can see, only two have not remained as part of the DWM pack- but wait, only two, what about Honey? Isn't she a foster? NO!!!!! She is now an official member of the DWM, having taken over Dad's heart and helping him get over his beloved Anna Rose, so much so that he calls her Anna and she answers to it but only he is allowed to call her Anna. WHN still has to call her Honey. Honey Anna is an eight year old black and tan smooth beauty, who was surrendered to DRNA when her owner went into a nursing home due to Alzheimers. She was well loved but had never been to the vet, so WHN spent most of July running back and forth to the vet with Honey, for her shots, her dental and spay, and then for more surgery to clear up an infection. Honey Bunny Boo Boo, (which is what WHN calls her) loves her Daddy and her Mommy, is a great huntress who loves to track down the nefarious bunnies and squirrels in the neighborhood, and loves to spend time on the couch protecting WHN from the dangerous arm of the furniture. She loves going in the car and has started helping Snoopy with his security work- the two of them are inseparable. She is not into toys, but does enjoy her food! She does need to lose about three pounds, and is already looking a little slimmer after chasing the bunnies all over the yard each time she goes out. She is a snausagesque beauty looking for love here in Blogville and Tasha adores having a younger sister! She also enjoys having sling time with WHN and has proven to be most helpful in the sewing room, helping Tasha keep the trundle bed secure and warm. Please welcome Miss Honey to Blogville!!!
Third, our beloved White Dog Army has welcomed a new member! Taiko is a six year old Eskie/Samoyed mix and is now a member of this amazing family and now Blogville! Please head on over and give him a Blogville welcome!
Lastly, Tasha and Honey hugging for Benny today! (you thought that WHN would follow the directions- please! We live with her and this was the best we could do!)

New fundraiser for benny!!!! Courtesty of Stella Rose! AND POTP Alert- WDA and The Mighty Quinn
Our BFF Pug friend in Iowa, Miss Stella Rose, is raising money for our beloved Frenchie, benny, who is Fighting liver cancer and winning! Please read the below pasted article and please donate for a chance to win fabulous prizes! Bidding ends 23 August 2013
Over the weekend we were a checking up on Benny and saw that they have
reached their halfway mark in their fundraising event. We also noticed
it was slowing down a little and Benny isn't done with his shots yet.
Its a good thing us four-leggers step up when the two-leggers get tired
isn't it! For instance in Alaska who is pulling with those bob
sleds...yep its the four-leggers pulling the two-leggers along the way.
Anyway Mom and I thought and thought and thought all weekend about what we need to do to help Benny, Lily and their Momma and we came up with a IOWA MYSTERY BOX. See Saturday is my gotcha day and we decided to celebrate this by filling up this box with items ONLY found here in IOWA and mostly items from the LOCAL ARTISANS. Did you know we live in VAN BUREN COUNTY IOWA and if you read Midwest Magazine we are often featured in it as a great place to go and relax, AND do a little shopping. We have 7 villages with lots of local artists...so what the heck...we are asking them to donate an item to our mystery box and we will send it with us taking care of the shipping. We are so sorry our friends that do not live in the USA cannot participate cos of the shipping cost.
Each day we will give you a peek into what item we have added to the box and some info about the artist. Sometimes it will be a little item ...sometimes a bigger item. Sometimes we will have a big story ...sometimes a little story. We are raffling this box off at $10.00 and your name will go into a hat, and MOM said I Could pick the name out since it is my gotcha day present. Folks, it will be well worth the $10.00! So, put your starbucks money up for the week, and keep your treat monies handy and bid on this box for our friend Benny!
You can send the money to FUND ME at Benny page, or send Mom an email at simpson_long@yahoo.com letting her know you will be sending her the money directly. We are going to be picking the winner on August 23rd ....stay tuned.
Please share this information on your blog also...i hope we have lots of bidders.
Tomorrow we will unveil the first item!
Stella Rose
We are also grieved to inform Blogville that our beloved BFFS the White Dog Army, The Mighty Quinn, has been afflicted by seizures. Unfortunately the prognosis is not the best and we hope and pray that Blogville will leave POTP at their blog- The White Dog Army and their pawrents are simply the best and have always been there when someone in Blogville has needed a shoulder to cry on- just ask What's her Name!

WDA - what are they doing now?
WHN found this great photo on Facebook and immediately thought of our BFFs in New Mexico, the White Dog Army! WHN has been chained to her sewing machine making a quilt for their upcoming 2 Million Dogs cancer march- there is a location in Missouri and we may try and sign up for it (if WHN can figure out where it is!)

For the Love of Ginger
As the hottest pawty in Blogville (so far this year!) winds down, we spent part of the morning planting a rose tree in memory of our Ginger. The idea came from Sue, the White Dog Army momma, and the WDA brought the tree with them from New Mexico! hot pink roses - ginger's signature color! We kept the roots well watered and so the transplanting went well- lots of rose food and water. WHN cried a bit (what else?) but then when she was peeking at Ginger's tree from her bedroom, realized that she had the perfect view for sleepless nights- she can gaze at the roses from her side of the bed and not disturb our beauty rest! Thank you WDA! WHN is planning on putting in some phlox (similar to what she had two years ago) and lavender, which she is growing from seeds, in memory of Miss April, MeeMoo and Daisy, our newest Rainbow Bridge contingent. This part of the front yard garden will alwasy be a Memory Garden, similar to and inspired by WDA and Amber Da Weenies Mama also. Please enjoy the roses- they are gifts of love to and from Ginger. Rest in Peace, Baby. Mama misses you so much.

Today in History- The IDES of MARCH
Today is the birthday of the Momma of the fabulous White Dog Army! In honor of this momentous occasion, WHN created a Smilebox that shows the creative process in making her quilt! Happy Birthday SUE! (Below is the link to their post concerning the arrival of the lng awaited WDA Quilt- without Sue, the Fearless Five Quilt would never have been completed on time!)

WHITE DOG ARMY QUILT! Update
Yes, we had WHN chained to her BabyLock Ellure Plus super duper embroidery machine that Dad bought her in order to finish this amazing work of art! And yes, she FINALLY finished the top yesterday about 6 PM- we had her working from sunup till sundown to get this done in time for the big birthday bash in New Mexico! WHN should, after she and Dad get back from the pool, finish the backing and put it together and hopefully get it quilted today!
We closely supervised the finishing touches to the top- WE insisted on a special surprise for our WDA Momma! (We hope you love it WDA Momma!) So, since a surprise is involved- no photos, not even for WDA!

WHITE DOG ARMY QUILT! UPDATE 1
UPDATE 1- We, the DWM have kept WHN busy busy busy today! Our beloved Dad finished making the patterns and WHN sketched out her basic pattern and cut the fabric for the top (excluding the faces of our beloved WDA- that is tomorrow's task for our favorite slave) Top photo shows the strips for the borders of the multiple blocks, the large blank block as well as the blocks for the faces and the Earth. The second photo shows the sketch and a better shot of the fabrics being used (and which DAD selected- he has a much better eye for fabric than WHN!)
