I have settled in quite nicely and really love The Daddy and WHN. I am now enrolled in puppy school and have learned Look and Touch and am walking on a leash- I had no idea how much fun leash waking is! Teaching your humans how to walk at the end of a leash is hard work but someone has to do it! I am still teething and the shoe count is four pairs but no complaints from WahN- she gets to go shoe shopping with her girlfriends to replace my chew toys.

We had a scare earlier this week- I was throwing up unexpectedly and The adaddy stumised it was due to my external flea and tick medicine. The vet had WHN give me a bath and I felt so much better. And The Daddy has to help with the bath- I hated having it which was a surprise as I love baths. I even sneak into the shower with WHN for a quick rinse.

I now weigh 9.6 lbs and my long fur is starting to come in- my ears are starting to really show it as are my paws!

Don’t forget to look for me on Facebark! I have my very own page- The Daily Anna!!!

Sorry that we have been missing since the loss of Anna in January but we have been busy taking care of What’s Her Name and Her never ending back issues and helping her take care of and plan a big parish celebration that was held in May (trust us- if Sweetie and I had not helped nothing would have gotten done)

In real Blogville news- WHN and Dad have adopted a dachshund puppy from a breeder! A Black and Tan dapple long haired mini, who has Ben named Anna Rose the Third! Furtia (as she has been nicknamed) was born April 16th in South Dakota and last week we went to South Dakota to pick her up!!! We combined the trio with some genealogical research into WHN’s family and we had a great time!

Furtia has settled in nicely- she is teething and has discovered a love of shoes! To date, WHN has lost only two but for some reason she finds a shoe in the kitchen every day!

Dad is over the moon as he has needed a female dachshund to keep him in line and Furtia has certainly managed that difficult role.

She sleeps through the night without having an accident and lives the big bed- Daddy has to sing her to sleep otherwise she plays for at least an hour.
She had been diagnosed with congestive heart failure last year and was on medication, which had apparently handled it. Late last Thursday she hacked up phlegm, and again Friday night. Saturday she continued to expectorate, and we attempted to get her to the vet to soothe her Dad's fears. The office closed early but since she had an appointment for today and was not in any pain or distress, we thought she would be ok until her appointment. I had to syringe water for her as she was not interested in either her food or her water dish- wanting only to sleep. (Her usual behavior when she has been on crate rest in the past) When we went to bed at midnight, she fell asleep near my head and later buried herself underneath all of the covers, which she has never done in the six years that she has lived with us. Around 4:40 in the morning her Dad woke up and checked on her- discovering that his angel had earned her wings. He woke me and we wrapped her up and placed her in a box and called the vet's office.

Sunday was a long day and Geoff was and continues to be grief stricken- no owner to tell him that he could share her recliner, no owner to be carried in and out for her tours of the backyard, no owner demanding her meals, no owner needing to be taken to her big bed for the night.

This morning, I put her in the car for one last trip, but Geoff could not bring himself to look. I arrived shortly after 8 to find that the office had only just heard our messages from the day before. My grief was manifested with the weight on my chest which threatened to break out when I had to pick out her urn. I was finally able to cry once I left the office.

Geoff will be bringing Anna home next week- one final ride in his work truck. Appropriate as she is the only one to have ever ridden in it and she loved going car with her Daddy.

Please keep Geoff, Snoopy, Sweetie and I in your prayers- two food bowls are simply not enough.
A mass had been found on her liver last May and while Sweetie and Anna have been the direct beneficiaries of the medical care, Tasha was always looked after with the hope that once everything surrounding her sisters ended, she would get the care she needed.

Unfortunately, that was not to be. She has gradually been losing weight over the last three months, culminating with a drastic drop the last month. Then the last two weeks saw her turn into skin and bones, with her fur falling out. This past weekend saw her appetite start to waver and her mobility started giving out Monday. Last night she was up every two hours, but could no longer stand- she fell over and could not move. She and I stayed up after the third such turn, spending the night wrapped up in her couch blankets and she in her sling under my night gown- we watched the sun rise and had some mommy and Tashina time. some time before six, I knew in my heart that it was time to let her go

So, Dad made the appointment .... I took her for a meal of chicken nuggets at her favorite drive thru, and then home for an extended beauty nap- not that she needed one. We left for the vet around 2:45, and arrived too early. For once there was no traffic. The vet techs got her ready with an iv, and I held her for a while longer, with her Dad in the room. Then the vet came in and Geoff left- Tasha stayed in the sling next to my heart for the rest of her life. After some time had passed, I gave her over and we left, me barely able to walk, clutching her bankie and sling for dear life.

She comes home in two weeks, and she will never leave me again.
Tasha, Queen of my Heart- until we meet again (1 November 2004 - 7 February 2018)Agnes B. Bullockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13012659654328281150noreply@blogger.com15tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5421059950956140673.post-73704720999515207512018-01-26T18:34:00.003-06:002018-01-26T18:34:55.603-06:00So far so good!!!2018 is starting off better than 2017 ended, but just by a hair

Sweetie is doing better- she will always walk like a drunken sailor but she is walking! Her food allergies have returned to a degree. The expense of her kibble outweighs the fact that no one will eat it so we are looking into less expensive options.

Anna Rose fell out of bed a week ago to our shock- she sleeps at the foot of the bed on top of several pillows, between us so this something that we never thought could or would happen. WHN took her outside and she appeared fine, but when we officially started our day an hour later, she screamed bloody murder. Of course crate rest began and we got her to the vet for X-rays. These revealed that she has several fused vertebrae in her upper spine, probably genetic, and several disc issues in her lower back. The X-rays also revealed that her heart is twice its normal size and that she is in he early stages of CHF. When the vet used his stethoscope, he heard a great deal more liquid gurgling than the X-rays revealed. So we now are experiencing the joys of crate rest, a severely reduced diet as the vet wants her to lose four pounds, and lots of medicines!!!

To top everything off, the Dachshund twincesses have been making Sweetie’s life uncomfortable- laying claim to her beds and peeing or pooing on them so WHN has even more laundry to do. Snoopys has been doing well and is very clingy. Shockingly both Anna and Tasha want WHN to wear them in the sling- they have never liked this before!

So please keep them in your thoughts and prayers!Agnes B. Bullockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13012659654328281150noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5421059950956140673.post-53017236152679174352018-01-04T13:44:00.000-06:002018-01-04T17:54:55.322-06:002018- a New Year and new leaf for us<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: x-large;">Seems like ages since we posted! 2017 was a year , an annis horribilis, if you will for both the two leggers and four leggers in the pack.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">After Dad's mom died, he and WHN became quite ill with recurring infections- Dad battled e Coli while WHN battled various female issues. On top of that, Tasha was diagnosed with a lump on her liver that needs an MRI (still) and Sweetie lost the use of her rear legs. Snoopy now has what appears to be a cataract on his left eye, and Anna Rose is still her roly poly self and the light of her Daddy's life.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">In late October, Sweetie had what appeared to be a large lump on her right rear butt, and off to the vet we went! Until today, that has been quite a roller coaster ride- the lump was removed, and a week later she tore out the stitches! More surgery needed. Then when those stitches were removed, it was discovered that the lump had come back and was larger than before. More surgery again! Now we had the fun of watching her heal- slowly and with constant leaking that the vet could not control. We took her in to have her stitches removed and found that she had a gaping hole in its place. Instead of stitching it up, we were sent home by the vet with a spray to use. The following Monday the other vet in the practice called and had us come in- he removed some of the excess skin and stitched her up and we went home again
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "arial"; font-size: x-large;">Today, her stitches finally came out! On top of that, Sweetie is able to walk! She looks like a drunken kangaroo, but she can get up and walkAgnes B. <span style="color: blue; font-family: "verdana" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Ah yes, the smell of competition is in the air!!!!! Will there be lots of dog and cat treats trading hands? What will the judges be doing behind closed doors? Where are Padsworth and Dragon Drop hiding? Welcome to Day 2 of this illustrious competition!
<span style="color: red; font-family: "helvetica neue" , "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Snoopy here- Master of Ceremonies from an undisclosed location in Missouri. The pressure is intense and WHN, for some reason has not cracked from it! Could it be that Dad has been secretly upping her medication? (oops, that was supposed to be our little secret- cat's out of the bag now!)
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">This entry from WHN is a little different than what she has entered before in this contest- While she still loves to make small quilts for table tops etc, her love for machine embroidery has really taken over the work room.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">This entry is a donation made in support of the Paws 2 people charity run by a very dear friend here in Blogville- Sue Sehi-Smith and her husband Steve, and closely supervised by the WDA- White Dog Army. The winner bid on the auction offering, which was a placemat with a pet portrait on it. WHN has usually done these using applique, but this year discovered a machine embroidery software that takes a very clear photo of your baby and converts it to an embroidery design. This is NOT for the faint of heart- the designs are stitch heavy (averaging 150,000 stitches) and depending upon the machine used, take approximately four hours to embroider.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">To see how the process is accomplished, WHN created an Instagram posting of ten photos for you to peruse. It is not part of her entry but shows how this particular piece was constructed-
<span style="color: #38761d; font-family: "arial" , "helvetica" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">This year has been a particularly challenging one for our pack, especially the past four months. What has really turned our pack upside down and twisted back to front is that our Princess Regal Beagle, Sweetie, is an IVDD sufferer. Now, with our pack consisting of three dachshunds from DRNA, and a beagle, one would suspect that IVDD would rear its ugly head eventually. It did, but with our 36 lb Beagle! We had gone out to a medical appointment and upon our return, Sweetie was still stuck outside unable to use her rear legs. That was just over 6 weeks ago. To raise money for a wheeled cart for Sweetie, WHN is now selling these portraits to raise the funds needed to purchase a cart and to fund the extras an IVDD dog needs. Sweetie has adapted beautifully and lets us know when she wants out. Her appetite is as usual and with the exception of the rear paralysis, Sweetie is her sweet but demanding diva self again. The adjustment was a long one, but I think that we have mastered the major obstacles so far. She is still busy training us, and still enjoys time in the backyard.
<span style="color: #38761d; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: #38761d; font-family: "arial"; font-size: large;">Now, a quick peek at the very first embroidered pet portrait WHN has done! These portraits go well on the back of jackets or as wall hangings, and can be wrapped around a canvas and ready to hang on your wall- their versatility is endless.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms" , sans-serif; font-size: large;">Is my mike ON? I better be getting paid for this, unlike my previous hosting gigs for WHN, that's all I can say-
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">As you can see it is that time of year again! We missed last year but have competed before and boy is the competition fierce. Padsworth and Dragondrop, that intrepid duo, have outdone themselves yet again! The prizes are fabulous and there are only four categories this year!
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">This blog post is WHN's entry into the Dog on quilt category! (No I am not her entry this year, my fiancée Muffin would not like that at all, so back off ladies!)
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">So this year, WHN is entering the following for your perusal - it is a quilted and pawsonalized stocking for our BFF Fendi! WHN is particularly pleased with this one (she has been making them for several years) as she believes that she captured the beautiful Fendi perfectly! This is done without thread painting- only quilted applique! So without further ado- FENDI!
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">The first photo is of the finished item and the second photo is of the original photo in comparison to the applique before it was quilted.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "trebuchet ms"; font-size: large;">We hope you enjoy this entry and please take the time to visit the other contestants- their works of art are simply breathtaking as are their models!
As you can see, WHN is no longer capable of keeping track of what week we are in of Sweetie's IVDD journey (it is Week 5) So far she is doing fine but depressions is making its ugly way into her life and we are not surprised to see it. Sweetie is not interested in going outside and exploring , just wants to sit or lie on her bed and sleep all day- she doesn't even sit up when she needs to "go".
No these photos are not indicative of this new phenomena- they were taken this morning after WHN and Dad returned from an emergency run to McDonald's to use the facilities- the water main on our street is broken so we have no water so we all no what that means! We went outside and Sweetie had been on her bed, BUT when the pawrents returned had messed her bed and after it had been changed by WHN simply refused to go back on the it- wanted to stay on the floor and rug and is still there
two hours later!

It is getting easier moving her around with her GingerLead , with her booties and using the Gorilla Grip bedding on her beds. Her depression will be a new challenge, especially since we already live with WHN and her episodes. This past weekend the weather was actually livable so we had Sweetie outside on the grass and she appeared to enjoy being in her yard again- tonight we are going to rig up the dolly and pull her around the yard to give her the feel of being mobile .

WHN started it and finally posted a couple of photos on it today! She thought that it would be easier than starting a separate blog for her. It is called Sweetie, the Princess Regal Beagle with IVDD so please check it out!

Also, thanks to our Aunt Mindy, our jewelry fund raiser made 12.00 for Sweetie's wheelchair!

Thank you for everyone who ordered from our Aunt Mica! Agnes B. Sweetie is truly our Princess Regal Beagle!Week four has come and gone and Princess Regal Beagle is proving to be a champ!

While her dachshund siblings still give her lots of room, she is improving on a daily basis- We now have new signs that she needs to GO! She is now getting herself off of her bed to pee, or at least to get herself off of the mess that she left behind! This started Sunday, and prior to that our previous such notification was that she would raise herself up into a seated position and that would alert us to the fact that her bladder was no longer full and that she would appreciate a change in her bedding, slaves.

On Saturday, WHN observed that Sweetie was attempting to use her right rear leg to scratch herself in the neck area- Sweetie was sitting on her bed, and you could see that she was trying to get her leg to do what she wanted it to do- unfortunately she had to settle for WHN giving her scritches instead, but this shows that the nerves are communicating.

Unfortunately, her rear feet both still knuckle, but we are still stacking her outside after she does her business.

Her appetite is still Regal Beagle sized and she is drinking up a storm!''

Dad even came up with a great idea- instead of buying disposable pee pads, he had WHN buy some of the incontinence pads used on people beds which are then thrown in the washer and dryer - Four cost less than 60.00, which is a lot less than disposable diapers and pee pads are for a month. These have proven themselves to be lifesavers and are a less stressful to use- we bought the largest size available and they are easy to change out on her bed- no more having to swap out the bedding, the pads and the bed and waiting for them to dry. Sweetie stays clean as does the house! WHN has ordered two more as we are going through 8 a day right now, and plans are to buy two more each pay day until we have three days worth on hand, in order to cut down on the amount of laundry- instead of washing just one or two, WHN can wash four or more at a time and still keep Her Majesty clean and dry without worry.

Sweetie is a complete drag! She manages to drag herself to wherever the action is and WHN needs to remember to return and replace the drag bag she did order for one in the correct size- While Sweetie is a statuesque 36 lb Beagle she is NOT an XL! WHN was able to go the convent last week and sew, leaving Sweetie in her diaper panties, and lo and behold, Sweetie met her at the door! (Yes her diaper was soaking wet and the floor needed to be washed, but that is irrelevant to Sweetie)

Dad came up with another great idea for Sweetie and it arrived late last night! He had the idea of using a mechanic's dolly to allow Sweetie some mobility within the house so that she could be moved more easily from room to room so as not to feel left out. She tried it last night and was unsure of it as it moves a little easily, but she loved that she could be right next to WHN for tv time instead of across the room. Dad will be getting a couple of small bricks this weekend to use as breaks to keep the dolly from moving while Sweetie uses it.

On the two legger front- this past week, both Dad and WHN came down with yet another gastrointestinal viral infection- the third since their return from NJ. Yes, another trip to the ER- Dad's fourth since May and WHN's third since May. Neither could keep anything down, not even ginger ale, and both ended up dehydrated after only 24 hours. Taking care of Sweetie became a challenge due to the light headedness of both parents and the continued incipient muscle weakness for WHN. It is making the rounds of ST Louis and since it is viral, nothing can be prescribed but all must be endured. Dad was able to return to work yesterday, but WHN has to forgo her volunteering for another day.

Next week we have a fabulous story to tell! Miracles do come true!

WHN and Dad are looking into obtaining a cart for her and WHN is in charge of the fundraising for this effort!

Yesterday we learned of a charity, Red Flyer, the Handicapped Pets Community on Facebook that helps provide carts to disabled fur babies, with the caveat that they are returned once no longer needed, due to full recovery or the passing of the fur baby. SO, WHN applied to have Sweetie placed on their waitlist and Sweetie was accepted!!!! She is one of 17 fur babies in need of mobility support.

Please visit their Facebook page to learn what this charity does and possibly leave a donation so that they can continue this work

Sweetie is showing fantastic signs of improvement! None of which involve food, btw.

While she is outside taking care of business, she is attempting to stand on her rear legs, by using her rear knees to raise herself up. She is also using her rear knees to move around on the grass and does not drag herself as much outside. Inside, her happy personality has returned, albeit incontinent and dragging herself around instead of running around as her former self did.

We are going to have to get her a larger crate for when I am gone at the local convent or when I am gone for Adoration- the current one, which met her former needs, does not allow her to turn around without difficulty. It is also difficult to get her out without causing her distress, which is why her crate rest is now occurring on her Coolaroo beds only. As long as her pack is in the room with her, she stays put. However, if either Geoff or I leave, all bets are off.

This past week, she has returned to greeting us at the front door after Mass, having dragged herself to be with her dachshund siblings.

Her incontinence continues- she is not telling us when she needs to go, so our only "tell" from her is when she is licking her hind quarters and rear legs, after she has urinated. At least the pee pads are helping- we have them under her bed so she does not have that to worry about.

The Ginger Lead had been simply wonderful- even with my back issues, I am able to get her outside safely!!!!She is able to walk around with the lead, and we work on stacking her feet properly to improve muscle tone in her legs and feet. She appears to like the lead and never fights it when I put it on her.

This past week, starting July 5th, I no longer sleep on the couch in the family room with Sweetie. The entire pack, four leggers and two leggers, are now sleeping in their big bed! Sweetie of course, has her own bed next to me, and is not only sleeping through the night, but is not urinating either! This has helped bring down the stress levels for all parties!

Sweetie is still a happy love, and while she knows that she is unable to walk and run as before, is not letting this challenge dampen her spirits in any way-she is remarkable . Geoff and I still are struggling, but that is probably due to her size- we never expected her to go down, and so were not prepared for that but were for the possibility of one of the dachshunds going down.

We learn more every single day and I am doing more research- once we have the money for her cart, next up is the wheelchair ramp and then a stock tank for the backyard to use for water therapy.

Have to go-need to order more pee pads for some reason! Agnes B.
These portraits are embroidered, based upon a photo sent to WHN, then framed for hanging! They are one of a kind masterpieces, with upwards of 110,000 plus stitches in an 8 inch by 10 inch area.

This portrait is of Siku Marie, head of the White Dog Army. She volunteered to be WHN's first model and look how her portrait came out- over 117,000 stitches, fifteen different colors, four and half hours of stitch time!

These portraits can also be done on the back of denim jackets or used on pillows. Sizes from 4 x4 up through 8 x 12. For multiple portraits, a wall hanging can be made instead! Lap quilts are also a great gift option as are Christmas Stockings and placemats. (The stockings would be done in either a 4x4 or a 5 x 7 size)

Shipping in the US will be included- overseas shipping needs to be paid by the recipient. (Those details will be worked out when the portrait is commissioned).

Turn around time will be three weeks.

Sweetie is continuing to improve- while she cannot support herself on her rear legs, she is able to wag her tail easily and one is able to see the muscles in her legs tremble during he day

She is urinatng up a storm! WHN is having to change out and wash her bedding up to five times a day and last night was the first time that everyone slept in the bedroom! Sweetie did urinate while sleeping but the pee pad under her bed helped with that situation.

She is suffering from the urinating- her skin is red where she pees so we are washing her off each time to alleviate the irritation. Hopefully that will end as her steroids taper off- she starts the one a day dosage today and next weekend starts the once every other day

Her appetite is fantastic and she has not lost any interest in food.

While not expecting a full recovery, her improvement is wonderful.Agnes B. Bullockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13012659654328281150noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5421059950956140673.post-87645390314543243592017-06-27T10:45:00.002-05:002017-06-27T10:45:47.425-05:00Week 1! We have survived our first week as an IVDD family! As you can see, she is being abused terribly . She is wearing a pair of the boots that WHN found on Amazon to protect her rear feet. We have noticed that her rear legs now cross when we have her outside on her support sling. Don't know if this part of IVDD or not but we are keeping a close eye on her.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif; font-size: large;">Day 1 as an IVDD family- as you can see, Sweetie is ensconced on her Coolaroo bed in the dining room (currently the family room but will be the dining room come next month when the furniture arrives).She is drinking like a fish and while she is not telling us when gravity hits, she at least allows us to get her outside. Only one accident so far- Her appetite is still healthy- food being her favorite dish and her bed is positioned in such a way that she has clear line of sight into her favorite room, the kitchen. Her various medications are disguised in some of her canned food and she takes them without pause.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">Her siblings are very wary- Sweetie needs help and her inability to walk on her own has them confused.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">I slept on the couch last night in order to help during the night- Sweetie only got up to partake of her water dish, and of course to remove the socks that we had purchased to protect her raw feet. Tasha and Anna joined in and it was a girls only slumber party. We have no idea what Geoff and Snoopy were doing in the bedroom.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">This morning she went out with few issues- but her back is painful, as she snaps at me when I attempt to use the sling. So with Geoff's help I carry her outside to take care of business- the sling does help and gravity kicks in. She is disoriented in that she cannot do her usual routine any longer but she tries anyway.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">Breakfast went well, as did dinner last night.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">As I sit here in the office working on this posting, the DWM are in their usual spots, and Sweetie has joined us, dragging herself in from the dining room. That is a good sign for me, in that I means she is going to fight and be a full member of the family, and not some invalid upon whom pity is shown. It also means that I have to make her some drag bags, so if anyone is familiar with them or a pattern please let me know!
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">We did crate her last night while Geoff took us out for dinner- We used her crate and she stayed in it in the position that we put her- head first. Not sure how this will work for her.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">This weekend is going to be busy as we will be making adjustments to the laundry room and its rear entry door to make them Sweetie accessible- by using this door it will be easier to get her outside, as there is only one step, down from the kitchen into the laundry room, instead of two steps out the dining room onto the patio. Even before this occurred, those steps were always a challenge for me and now carrying a 35 lb beagle up and down, it just isn't a safe option, especially when I am home and Geoff is at work.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">Other options that will be appearing on the blog as money allows them to debut are the no walk wagon used by Frankie and Ernie- this will allow us to restrict Sweetie's movements in the house while granting her the ability to be in the same room, such as my sewing room; a wheelchair ramp, to be permanently installed out the dining room door, as Sweetie and the dachsies are used to using that door to get into their backyard kingdom, and a rear wheeled cart for Sweetie to use outside.
<span style="color: blue; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: red; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">In the next few weeks, I will begin offering embroidered pet portraits for sale to cover the costs of these items and the additional costs that will be incurred due to Sweetie's IVDD. This will be an ongoing source of funding for Sweetie, and the only honorable way that I could think of to raise these funds, as we had already sponsored a BLogville auction to pay for Snoopy's adoption fees when we first moved to Missouri, and I felt that another such auction would be in bad taste.
<span style="color: red; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: large;">
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: x-large;">UPDATE!
<span style="color: magenta; font-family: "georgia"; font-size: x-large;">I have set up an Amazon wish list for Sweetie, primarily as an aid for me to keep track of what she will need, and also as a way for friends to help if they so choose. Please let me know if I have overlooked anything that she will need as we are new to this, even though we have been owned by dachshunds for almost ten years.
Unfortunately she had absolutely no improvement at all.

So, our lives enter a new phase- providing Sweetie with the nursing that she will need the rest of her life. We will be learning how to express her bladder and rectum, via a towel/harness until we have the funds with which to purchase her a cart. She is happy and we will keep her happy and healthy to the best of our ability.Agnes B. Bullockhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13012659654328281150noreply@blogger.com3
