POTP ALERT!!!!! Legacy Chronicles need our help!

Christmas Miracle in progress

But it needs your help! See, just after Christmas, LBR heard about a family in desperate need of help. Could you say no to this face?

Her name is Noel. She ended up in a shelter at Christmas with her five four-week-old pups! That's no way to spend Christmas. So LBR sprang into action to give her a Christmas miracle. Meet the family! First, the boys, Blitzen and Frankincense.

And then their sweet sisters! Joy, Snowball, and Vixen.

What a grreat Christmas miracle, huh? Well, unfortunately, their happily ever after is in jeopardy. See, one by one the pups have been rushed to the dogtor, and all five of them are being treated for parvo. :(  Momma Noel is very skeered for her babies. We promised her we'd take very good care of them.

So how can you help? These babies need the power of the paw something fierce! Please flood them with all the good wishes you can manage, because they need every bit they can get. And if you can spare any green papers to donate, that would be really pawesome too. It costs $1,000 - 1,500 to treat one pup for parvo, and we've got five! :( Please spread the word and help our Christmas family find their miracle!

Rainbow Bridge Alert- Bridge from Dip Dip and the Bridge

Bridge, from Dip Dip and the Bridge, left Blogville for the Rainbow Bridge on 23 December 2013.  Please click on the link and leave your condolences for her family.  She will be sorely missed in Blogville.

On the Third Day of Christmas, my true love gave to me.....

Anna and her new coat

Dad with his new stocking
Good Morning Blogville!   Sorry to be posting so late, but you know how WHN can be!
We had a great Christmas Eve and Christmas Day this year!  Anna and Hope enjoyed the chaos of being in the DWM pack and saw what Christmas can be like here- WHN made us all stockings!  Dad's was made with two different train fabrics and ours was made with a red and white Dachshund Christmas fabric she found on sale at Hancock fabrics earlier this year- she finished them on Christmas Eve around 6 PM CST too- just in time for Santa Paws to fill them!  Chip was given a bag of great treats, Snoopy and Tasha got squeaky toys, and Anna and hope received matching pink camo coats for going out to pee! We also received the bestest gift exchange gifts from our friends at Hound Dog mom- fabulous treats, a calendar and loads of stuffies- Tasha has already desqueaked the first one so WHN hid the rest. Christmas Eve, Dad and WHN open their gifts, and we opened ours on Christmas Day, after they returned home from Mass.  The foodables were fabulous- we thought that Sasha had her paw in their creation since they were so good!  Cheeses, cold cuts and more on Christmas Eve, while we had turkey and all the fixings on Christmas Day- WHN cooked again!   Dad got pajamas from the movie A Christmas Story, and lots of blu ray movies- he is going around the house pretending to be James BOnd! He also got a great sweater and shirt from his mother in law and neat toys from WHN. On Christmas Day, we gave him three train cars for his layout- and two were from his favorite movie, A Christmas Story.  Hope gave WHN a sewing pattern so that she can make more slings - I guess WHN should take the hint! We also gave her some sewing and quilting books, and Dad gave her a new sewing and embroidery machine and a computer program so she can make her own embroidery designs!

Snoopy's girlfriend Muffin and sister Lily Belle surprised us with fabulous treats to share, and Snoopy found his very own Woodstock toy from Muffin in the box- she pawsonally picked it out for him. dad and Mom got a pen and a great dachshund salt and pepper set!  Then the White Dog Army surprised us with even more fabulous treats, a welcome mat so our paws don't get dirty, and a great White Dog ornament for our tree!  WHN and Dad got a gift certificate too- we hope that they use it wisely and for us!

We have received 87 million Christmas cards from Blogville- in the mail and ecards!  However, WHN forgot to send out our ecard for some reason- but since there are 12 days for Christmas, she still has time!

Happy Birthday Dad

Today, 18 December 2013, would have been my Dad's 85th birthday!  The reason for the gray is that was his favorite color.  He was born in Minneapolis, MN, the only child of Olga Andersen Black and Albert Gain Black. He died on 17 September 2009 due  kidney problems.  He is survived by his wife, Agnes McKenna Black, his eight children and multiple grandchildren.  He was predeceased by his granddaughter, Jennifer Amber Black. He is sorely missed- and I freely admit that I am a Daddy's girl!

WHN is HOME!!!!

WHN is home from the hospital!  She did not need surgery (this time) as the obstruction untwisted or healed naturally!  We of course are keeping a very close eye and all twenty paws on her, just to make sure that she does not do this to us again!  Hope was especially unhappy as Dad is "Not the Mama" when it comes to her need to be under her shirt all day long, Chip needed to protect her from the dangers of couch arms, Snoopy missed taking care of licking her and both Tasha and Anna missed having her tuck them in under the blankets on the couch. She refuses to tell us how terrible it was, being away for so long, but said that the nurses and LPNs were fabulous and she had very good human care.  She did say how much she missed us and is making up for her absence.

She was told that if this again occurs, she will need surgery- apparently whenever someone undergoes abdominal surgery of any kind, scarring occurs and the organs in the abdomen can adhere to them causing bowel obstructions like she had.  Sometimes they can correct themselves, but most of the time surgery is needed.

Thanks Paws she is home!

"A Day Which Will Live in Infamy" 7 December 1941

The USS Arizona
'Yesterday, December 7, 1941—a date which will live in infamy—the United States of America was suddenly and deliberately attacked by naval and air forces of the Empire of Japan.
The United States was at peace with that nation, and, at the solicitation of Japan, was still in conversation with its government and its emperor looking toward the maintenance of peace in the Pacific. Indeed, one hour after Japanese air squadrons had commenced bombing in the American island of Oahu, the Japanese ambassador to the United States and his colleague delivered to our secretary of state a formal reply to a recent American message. While this reply stated that it seemed useless to continue the existing diplomatic negotiations, it contained no threat or hint of war or armed attack.
It will be recorded that the distance of Hawaii from Japan makes it obvious that the attack was deliberately planned many days or even weeks ago. During the intervening time the Japanese government has deliberately sought to deceive the United States by false statements and expressions of hope for continued peace.'

Did you know?

Did you know that Blogville is the best place on earth?

Thanks to Ann of Zoolatry, we have a fabulous Christmas header and ecard!  The header will be up until February 2, 2014, the last day of Christmas for Roman Catholics.  (Christmas runs from December 25th through February 2, the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a period of 40 days).  Please click on the link and leave her your POTP as she will be undergoing minor surgery this week.

We had a fabulous ThanksDeerMas!  WHN COOKED!  yes, you read that correctly- WHN COOKED!  We had turkey, white meat only no skin, and WHN also made stuffing, gravy, green bean casserole, and au gratin potatoes for Dad - the leftovers should be done tonight!  This was Snoopy's, Anna's, and Hope's first ThanksDeerMas and they all had a good time.  Chip and Tasha are old paws at holiday events with the DWM but they had a good time too!

WHN and Dad abandoned us for a couple of hours on Black Friday, but came home and took us along for the second half of their trip- we were dressed up in our car coats and sweaters and we were pretty good in the car while they went to Joann's for stuff.  We were even given special treats for the car ride !

Dad started the Christmas decorations on Saturday and put up Snoopy's tree and the big tree in the living room!  Only lights are on the big tree so far, but Dad and Snoopy relax watching the LGB trains going around the tree!

WHN has been busy sewing up a storm- the place mats for this year's BLogville auctions are almost done and the SLimmer Pugs stockings too!  We know how slow she is but they will be worth the wait- just ask Roxy, Ernie's girlfriend, OSO from the WDA, and Ranger the Scottie- they loved how theirs came out!  Prancer Pie and Lily Belle are left, and they will be done this week! WHN has been dividing her time between the sewing and the tea lights for the WDA new charity- Paws2People, so much so that Dad bought her a second embroidery/sewing machine to help her keep up with the demand!  She now has a Baby Lock Esante, along with her Baby Lock Ellure Plus and her Janome 3160 QDC! Christmas and anniversary gifts were early this year for WHN!

WHN and Dad are so thankful for the support that she received this year from BLogville when she had to start taking anti depressants again, and through her multiple episodes that rocked her back on her heels this year.  Thank you for helping her cope and letting her take the time that she needed to start getting back on an even keel again.  (And no, the house in Ohio is still unsold!)

We the DWM have been raking in the Christmas cards again!  We really love the way that Susie and Sidbites are counting ther cards and we encourage you to do the same- just multiply each card received by the number of four leggers to give you the actualy number of cards!  We have received over ten in the snail mail and four ecards, so our total haul to date is fifty snail mail cards and twenty ecards to WHN and Dad's ZERO!

Finally, we the DWM celebrated a special anniversary on 30 November- that's right!  Snoopy's first Gotcha Day!  He has come a long way since he joined us and is responding to his training/exercise regimen and medication-  our fearful tough guy is a much happier stud muffin!
