Florissant, Missouri mug rug stamp |
My inspiration for the mug rug is my current location, Florissant, Missouri. While working my way through my stash to find fabrics for my original ideas (don't ask!), I came across this fabric and was surprised that it was USPS fabric based on the 2012 stamps depicting various state birds in the United States! I had purchased this fabric earlier this year at Jackman's Fabrics, on the clearance rack, because of the numerous cardinals depicted on the fabric. ( Knew that I would find something to make with it since I just loved the birds against the wood grain background- was thinking curtains or table runner for the kitchen)-So I took out my trusty Hexie and More ruler, and started fussy cutting various size hexagons, concentrating on the cardinals. Then I used iron on batting on each hexagon to make them stand out even more when quilted. Then I raided the stash again, and found some great green batiks leftover from a placemat and quilt made earlier for a BLogville resident, Ginger Jasper, and used that for the backing and the front of the table runner. The mug rug was actually a happy last minute idea- while finishing the table runner, I took yet another green and fused the hexagon on it and then I noticed the name of the bird and the flower- Robin and Apple Blossom. We have a robins nest outside of our bedroom window and Apple Blossom is the name of our street! So I found another scrap from another Blogville item, and put together the mug rug to commemorate where we currently live! Since I love Missouri, the price for this stamp is Priceless X2!!!
Please enjoy what I have made and make sure to visit the other ladies participating today with me!

What a cute runner and mug rug! I love the cardinals but then I am a STL baseball fan so that might have a little to do with it, LOL.

Great table runner. I love birds. Took a lot for me to convince DH that they were more than just irritants to make his dog bark.

Wow, great stamp!
Hi
Can we assume the June 28 bids are still accurate? Is there some way I will know if someone else bids on an item (I am currently the high bid on Item 4 -- I think)? I know it's over tomorrow so I want to be able to respond if someone else bids on the purse ;-)
