Vet visit

Today, we had our dreaded vet visit- Chip's first since he became head of the family. The veterinarian, Dr. Sternecker, is a doll. Ginger has an infection due to a growth over one of her upper teeth- said growth to be removed next month during her teeth cleaning. Nothing to worry about- it is a benign little thing that apparently is draining into her sinuses. Otherwise she is the picture of health at 16.1 lbs. She will be on antibiotics until her procedure, which could even clear up the growth comletely on its own. Her vet in Albany told me very little about it at all- Dr. Sternecker was concise and thorough in his explanation.

Chip weighs 14.2 pounds and is a perfect athletic little man. He was microchipped for my sake, and behaved perfectly during his exam. Due to his athletic ability, Dr. S thinks that back problems will probably not be in his future.

My heart almost failed when I paid the bill- no where near what I had expected- in fact, less than half.

FINALLY, a vet who knows dacksies!!!! (and he has a 15 month old French Bulldog)

A typical Fall day in Medina, Ohio

Today has been absolutely beautiful. Ginger and Chip enjoyed the great outdoors while I started to rip out the front garden that is overgrown with weeds and wildflowers tha ran amuck this summer. Ginger now can explore the front garden more thoroughly looking for the dreaded Medina badgers, and Chip can continue to work on his tan.

Both are on the website, so come take a look!!!! Here is the link to them-

A new bed

Chip enjoying his new bed, which we placed in front of the front windows for extended tours of guard duty.

On Saturday 10 October 2009, we took Chip and Ginger to the PetSmart in Medina, Ohio. As you can see, they enjoyed themselves immensely. (Chip is on the left, Ginger is on the right) This trip was in celebration of Ginger's 9th birthday and Chip's two week anniversary with us.

Happy Birthday Ginger

Ginger turns 9 today!!!!!

This photo is from Une 2008, in Boston where Geoff's employer supports the City Year charity. This is Ginger on the bus enroute to our volunteer location, to paint baseball field scoreboards. Ginger of course supervised and ended up being filmed for a company movie on the event. A Star was born that day, and she never lets us forget it.

Yes, the world know them as weiner dogs, but to us, they are simply perfection on four legs. This blog is dedicated to the antics of our dachsies Ginger and Chip, both of whom were rescued by Dachshund Rescue of North America ( Any Dachsie pictures will be gladly posted, all in for the love of dachshunds!!!
