Happy Valentine's Day, Blogville!!!! WHN has posted some photos of what the three ladies are wearing for the Big Dance! Dad picked these out for his trio of beauties, since WHN slacked off and failed to make them dresses (we will be making her pay, with the help of our BFF Amber Da Weenie) First up, a photo of Tasha for Shiloh! Then we have a photo of Thai for AMber- Chip is away getting the Oscar Mayer Weiner Mobile ready for the Big Dance- he wants to pick up Amber in STYLE! In the third photo, Anna Rose and Ginger model their Dadd'ys girl outfits, and in the fifth photo is the Daily Anna Rose photo for Max!

1) Describe yourself/yourselves in seven words

2) What keeps you up at night- Thai- lack of water when I need it from Mom; everyone else- when Mom thinks she has any room in the bed and tries to move us so that she (the nerve of it all) can get comfortable so she can sleep

3) Who would you like to be- US! We have the people here trained just the way wwe want them!

4) What are you wearing now? All of us are wearing our collars, tags, and Id charms. Chip and Tasha are buried under the blankets on the couch, so they technically are wearing the blankets. Anna is working on her tan for the dance on her bed in front of the big window. Ginger is wearing Mom- she is curled up under her sweater. Thai is modeling his morning belly band!

5) What scares you- when Mom and Dad leave us home alone? Who do they think they are to go in the car without us?

6) What are the best and worst parts of blogging? Best is meeting new friends. WOrst is news that the Rainbow Bridge has another member.

7) Last website visited- WHN visited one of her quilting blogs- Sew Bitter Sweet. WE last visited Dachshund Nola!

8) Slankets? YES- WHN has a couple, as does Dad. Tasha loves to get right into the sleeves while WHN is wearing it, while Chip curls up under it on the other side of WHN. ginger loves to nurse them until she makes a hole in it- like swiss cheese! WHN loves them as they are great for travelling!

9) One thing that you would change? NOTHING- we are perfect the way we are!

10) Tell us something about the person who tagged you- Dachshund Nola is perfection in a tiny package! She is adorable and looks great in pink. WHN is going to ask our vet about using her Mom's recipes since Tasha and Chip have food allergies. She wants to see is Anna Rose will be allowed to eat these recipes due to her kidney and bladder stones.

Mr. Chewy Review

Back in January, What's Her Name was emailed by the Mr. Chewy company to review their pet food service and options. Now, of course, she failed to take any photos, claiming that she was busy with other stuff for the DWM!

Anyway, WHN went to www.MrChewy.com to see what brands were available and if the brands that she preferred for us were included and found that Nature's Variety Instinct and BilJac were! She was so happy- she wanted to put Chip and Tasha back on the grain and gluten free kibble, and so she ordered two 4.4 lb bags of Nature's Variety Instinct- the duck and turkey and the beef. Then she ordered us the 6lb Bil Jac and to round out the order, a box of Nature's Variety chicken dog biscuits. NO SALES TAX and since the order was over 49.00, NO SHIPPING! The prices were comparable to what Pet Supplies Plus charges (PetSmart does not carry NV), but if you include the no sales tax and free shipping, financially Mr. Chewy is the better bargain! Best of all, the food was delivered by Fedex on a SATURDAY!. What's Her Name immediately set up a delivery schedule so that we don't run out of food and starve because she fell down on the job again- Now, she doesn't have to wait for Dad to take her to the store with us and do all of the heavy lifting, but sits at home eating bon bons while Mr. Chewy does all the work for her! On March 14th, our next delivery is due! Even better, Mom can control the spending- she can easily keep track of what we need and not overbuy at the stores when she takes us! Now, if they only carried Anna Rose's prescription diet! (That will come in time- Mr. Chewy does carry Royal Canin and Science Diet prescription dog and cat formulas- just not the one that Anna Rose needs) Lastly, sine we are a one car family, the delivery service is fantastic- when Dad goes back to work and has the car all day, Mom doesn't have to worry about getting out to the store to get our foodables!

Chip is healing nicely! at night he must have been in some pain since he tried to bite Dad, and kept trying for about ten minutes (but failed) He returns to the vet next Tuesday to have his stitches removed

What's Her Name is a HUGE fan of the New York Giants, ever since she was three years old. NEVER even suggest in her hearing that her beloved Big Blue will not win- THAT is a statistical improbability that will get you banned furrever! Her beloved Big Blue again enters this magnificent sporting event as the underdog, yet in teir previous three apperances, they appeared as the underdog and WON. First, back in 1987, when she was stationed in Germany, The GIANTS defeated the Denver Broncos to the shock and horror of all (except WHN, whe knew that they would win) Fast forward a few years and again, her darling appear in the Big Game, this time against Jim Kelly and the Buffalo Bills, again the underdogs- BEST GAME EVER- The Big Blue took down the Bills and won by one point! Four years ago, history repeated itself. her beloved underdogs appear against the undefeated Patriots and made history! Yes, this game was even better than the blow out over the Bills- In the last two minutes, ELi Manning led and crushed the undefeated Patriots! No team deserved that whipping that year. Today, Eli and Company will again appear, in Indianapolis, home town of Big Bro Peyton and the Indianapolis Colts. This time, the Pattie girls are NOT undefeated- Big BLue stomped all over them on their home turf in Massachusetts during regular season play. Crybabies all claim that Brady was off due a bad ankle, but he is game for today! Sorry, but ELi overcame him four years ago and will again today! GO BIG BLUE!!!!

My Chip a Dee Doo Da, the scourge of the USPS and UPS, as well as all enemies foreign and domestic, had a good night. He ate his dinner, as previously noted, and was given a half tablet of Tramadol in a pill pocket, to keep him comfy last night. We incorrectly thought that he would sleep in Thai's rolling camouflage command post next to my side of the bed, due to the wearing of the Cone of Fame (Thai sleeps in Ginger's pink command post located next to my side of the bed, so that he is seen in public in his macho man rolling throne- NOT going to ruin his manly reputation) NOOOOOOO!!!! We had to sleep curled up next to the Mom person and keep her up all night as we tried to find a comfy position under the covers for the COF. I gave up all pretence of sleep at 3:36 AM and just lay there so Chip could relax and finally catch some ZZZZZ's. He had bouts of shivering between his bouts of grogginess- typical post surgical reaction, and what I did not expect from him. Kept him rolled up in blankies while the shivering passed and then he would sleep with his elevated by the COF. This morning he ate his breakfast (at least the canned) but did not pee or poop- AND he can get the COF open! He is going to be a handful but he is doing much better. Gave him a second half tablet of Tramadol to keep him calm so that he does not try to lick his stitches since the COF is not going to be the deterrent we had hoped it would be!

Just glad he is home! Test results on the cyst due late this week or early next week, but I am not worried.

The quilt top is under construction! It will be 15 squares wide by 19 squares long- each square will be 5.5 inches wide .

The pink square in the first photo is from Da Weenies of Florida! You will have to wait until Sandra and her family actually have the quilt in hand to see where it appears!

Chip, and a Fearless Five Quilt update

Today, my Chip a Dee Doo Da, had to go to the VET for his dental and to have a rather large cyst removed from the left side of his abdomen. He did very well and is now home, sleeping on the couch watching Season 5 of Psych with the rest of the DWM. He has a rather large incision on his left flank and is wearing a cone of shame so as to keep him from licking it. We hope it heals quickly. No running or playing for three to five days, and he has his stitches removed on the 14th! My personal security guard, who could teach the Secret Service a thing or two, is home with his Momma and will be spoiled as he recovers.

I have started assembling the top of the quilt, which I hope to mail to our beloved quilter, Cindy, on Saturday! One more quilt block, from Nubbins' Tails, is en route and once it arrives it will be included in the quilt top and off she goes!

Mango's quilt square

In today's mail arrived the fabric from the Furst Ladies of Blogville, Ruby and Penny! What's Her Name immediately stitched up the nine patch with the square from Frankie and Ernie and VOILA!

She also made Mango and Bert the Dog's squares yesterday, using the fabric from Fabric, Food and Fido.

More fabric has been arriving and pictures will be posted tomorrow, along with a list of those who donated. The list is being posted so that Blogville residents who sent packages will know that they have arrived safe and sound. The quilt top will be completed over the first weekend of February and sent o our beloved quilter, Cindy!

What's Her Name here- The DWM have graciously allowed me to actually post my thoughts on their blog! (Yes, I do have them and yes, my mind is filled with blonde moments)

THANK YOU for the KEY TO BLOGVILLE! I am humbled by your generosity and love and overwhelmed with it. This is an honor beyond compare and I vow to live up to the trust and love that it entails. I apologize for not posting about it sooner, as recognition is something that is new and unexpected. Again, I thank you for this great honor.

NOW, the Pittie Pack Quilt. Fabric has been pouring in from all over the world! Mango sent his Relentlessly Huge sweatshirt and the mailman now has a hernia from lugging the box up our driveway! Jazzi, Addy and their Mom sent a treasure trove of fabrics for the quilt, in addition to their blocks! I will be posting these photos later today as well as the photos of the packages that arrived yesterday and today!

The inspiration for this quilt was Twix, the Twixerrific, our beloved friend who is now healthy and pain free, and waiting for all of us, at the Rainbow Bridge. When I first learned of the devastating news from Blogville, my first reaction was to make something for Sandra. The loss of her five babies just tore me up- she lost her five and I am owned by my five babies and the fear of losing them in one fell swoop just froze me in place. I emailed my thoughts to the Furst Mom of Blogville, who encouraged me. At first it was going to be a surprise, as I did not know Sandra nor follow her Pack at the time, but over the course of our email exchange that night, that quickly became a moot point. Then we both had the same idea- why not open it up to Blogville and ask for fabric squares to show the love and support so dearly needed by Sandra, her family, as well as for Brinks and Bella. THAT is how the quilt idea was born.

A week or so after the appeal to Blogville for fabric, I received an email from a quilter who lives in Upstate New York, volunteering her time and talent to help make this quilt come true. This wonderful woman reads many of our blogs and wanted to help, and had also wanted to make a quilt for Sandra, so when she saw our appeals, she asked if she could help. I have not asked for permission to reveal her name, but once I have received her permission, I will do so, as she is also deserving of praise for her help. She is a far more accomplished quilter than I, and will be doing the actual quilting on a long arm quilting machine for us. If she were being paid, this would run easily to two hundred dollars, but she is donating her time for us. Because of her skill level and the size of the quilt, I immediately accepted her offer and will be posting some of her finished works for all of you to see- they are simply fantastic. I will be constructing the top and forwarding the top, backing and the batting to her to work her magic. Once completed, the quilt will make its way to Sandra and her family.

Next, Mayor Frankie and Ernie's Mom, the Furst Mom of Blogville- without her, NONE of this is possible and her role needs to be properly and publicly acknowledged. She holds our family together and is always there for all of us! Thank you LANA!

Finally, every single one of you in Blogville who gave of themselves for this quilt deserves my thanks and love. Without you I would never have been able to get this quilt done, and without your encouragement , this quilt would never have been possible.

And lastly, The White Dog Army and their family- back in November, when I first launched my Etsy shop, I was commissioned to make a large quilt for them, but not until after Christmas. The fabric has been purchased, and I was due to start work on it after Christmas. However, with the Fearless Five quilt, the WDA and their family told me to finish the Fearless Five quilt first and then work on theirs. I actually thought that I could in fact keep to my original schedule, but due to the amount of fabric coming in, was unable to do so. I asked and was granted an extension of time for their quilt and so, they too are deserving of your thanks.

I thought that the full story of the quilt needed to be told- all of the praise that I read on this blog and on others has made me very happy, BUT not everyone involved was being acknowledged and that made me uncomfortable. Now you know the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth!

UPDATE- 1447 hours EST- The Rocky Creek Scotties have just emailed me to inform me that they have mailed a wonderful batting for the quilt! Thank you.

Our mailman is getting quite a workout lately!!!! SIX PACKAGES arrived Friday and TWO on Saturday!!!! AND, there were more than one quilt block in most of the packages. Way to go Blogville! So here is the breakdown of both deliveries- from Jacque and Pippen, two Scottie blocks! From Alessandra and the cats- a Mickey Mouse block from their favorite blankie! From Peggy Frezon and her furbabie Kelly- one personalized block and four pieced blocks made of fabulous dog fabric!

SNOW!!!!!

Yesterday we had about three inches of snow and we are again getting more of the flakey stuff. What a way to start the New Year! As you can see from yesterday's photos, Tasha and Anna Rose had different ways of celebrating our first real snow fall of the year, and of winter! Tasha decided that What's Her Name did not need her bathrobe, as she needed to get inside and ended up wearing the left sleeve herself! Thankfully WHN was wearing a flannel nightgown that Dad had given her several years ago- she is flakey enough as it is!

Anna Rose, the love of Max Da Odder Weinie, loves the snow and pranced around for quite some time in the flakes as they fell from the clouds. She is doing better, but will probably need to have the IV fluids every other day. She is drinking more, and going outside with her Daddy every couple of ours. She devours her vitamins and her new foodables, as long as her Daddy feeds them to her! After her adventures in the morning snow, she snuggled up in her new Christmas blankie and supervised her Dad while he worked on his Navy correspondence courses!

SHE'S HOME!!!!!

Yes, the love of Dad's life, Her Majesty, Anna Rose, Queen of Fur, is home!!!! Full of perkiness and on a new diet- kidney/renal and NO TREATS! Low protein too. Will have to see which of the three brands of canned she will eat and also if she will eat the new kibble. What's Her Name is going to try and find recipes that she can make- Anna Rose will not eat even canned foodables without something homemade! Her calcium levels and something else are elevated, and she returns on 9 January for a follow up blood test. At that time, Dr. Parker will determine if Fur will need IV fluids every other day to keep her kidneys flushed out. DAD will be the one handling this! What's Her Name and needles- maybe on her sewing machine, but no where near a dachshund! She also has a new, one a day prescription treat, which she will eat if she is hand fed by her adoring servant, Daddy. Right now the two of them are ensconced on the couch, watching Emergency, Season 1.

BTW, Zona's auction item arrived yesterday and was successfully installed for Fur's return home- Yes it is a wonderful car seat and apparently was made just for Anna Rose, who was seated in it onher triumphal journey home from the vet.

For Max, Da Odder Weenie, a few photos of his girl, Anna Rose.

Dad called the vet earlier and Anna Rose is a lot perkier and will be coming home tomorrow morning. Dad could not find a veterinarian in Northeast Ohio that does the laser surgery, but Ohio State down in Columbus does the hydrotherapy procedure. We will know more tomorrow.

Ginger was very busy today, keeping WHN chained to her Janome and making sure she did something other than cry! You can see how hard a job it was for Ginger to keep WHN under control, as usual. Puddles suggested lots of adult beverages, such as beer, so WHN will be taking her up on that idea once she gets off the computer!

The quilt is coming along nicely- ZONA and the SLIMMER PUGS sent fabric that arrived today- blocks 7 and 8. WHN was able to combine Goose's donation with both Zona's and Sarge's and came up with two nine patch blocks! Then Dad laid out the Fearless Five blocks with these on our bed, to see how they look- What do you think?

Jazzi's Mom will be sending lots of fabrics next week and posting on her blog! LOVE JAZZI'S MOM!!!!

What's Her Name would like to thank everyone in Blogville for their kind comments and their prayers for Anna Rose- It has been a very unpleasant shock and she is embarrassed that she didn't handle it well, but at least Dad knows how to be the grownup in this group! The Furst Mom of Blogville, the Head Flake, has been a great support for WHN and she wants everyone to know what a great person Lana is. We are lucky to have her.

UPDATE- ANNA ROSE

Her Majesty, Queen of Daddy's Heart, Daddy's Beloved Fur, is at the vet as we speak! She will be there overnight and on IV fluids to flush her system out and should return home tomorrow. Dr. Parker does not think she needs surgery and that this is what she went through when we first got her. Dr. Parker wants to get her better first, and then we are going to look into the emergency vet doing laser removal of her kidney stone. What's Her Name of course broke down in tears at the vet, even though it is better news than expected- what else would you expect from her, the blonde moment nitwit! Dad is a rock, and is doing his best to keep the blonde moments from taking over completely.

Crosses Paws- PRAYERS NEEDED- ANNA ROSE

Yesterday afternoon, Anna Rose started to tremble as if she were in pain. We thought that her back was going down. As our vets were unavailable, we had to take her to an emergency vet, who determined that it was NOT a back problem, but an abdominal one, requiring xrays and blood work, which she will have done today at our vet.. She make have eaten a foreign object or have another kind of bowel blockage, ore pancreatitis. (She is the only pack member who does not eat everything in sight- she is very picky so we hope and pray that it isn't the first two things) . She would only eat her canned foodables if Geoff hand fed her and she screamed in pain when the vet, during his exam, touched parts of her tummy.

We had a sleepless night and her vet's appointment is for 11, if we cannot get her in sooner. PLEASE PRAY FOR US! Geoff as you know is out of work and she is his baby- her nickname (to which she does call when used ONLY by him, is "Fur") Anna Rose slept in the big bed curled up with me till 4 AM then her Daddy till we got up just now at 7:30- she would not eat her bedtime snackie and refused her tramadol in the pill pocket, but did drink water. She dozed most of the night but would wake for us to pet her. She went out for her morning constitutional and had no problems and had no pain when we picked her up. She was even playing her favorite game with Geoff if catch me if you can!

We are praying that surgery is NOT needed, but your prayers are for her and for Geoff.

Today, we have What's Her Name CHAINED to her Janome sewing machine! She is making FIVE blocks in honor of the FEARLESS FIVE! Each block consists of five different fabrics and each block will be five blocks across and five down, and will have five blocks of each fabric dedicated to the meory of these heroes. Guerro is represented by the red roses, Coco Chanel by the pink damask, Shelby by the cream background with the multi colored hearts and flowers, Tiger by the blue floral, and Lucky by the pink and red hearts. Yes, it has arrived! Caryl mailed it on 21 December 2011 and it arrived, safe and sound TODAY!!!!!!!!

This beautiful piece of fabric, and its beautiful note for Sandra, are the fourth block for the Pittie Pack quilt to arrive!

A queen sized quilt runs 90 inches by 108 inches. With 5.5 inch borders, that leaves 84.5 and 102.5 inches respectively to fill with the quilt blocks and the five portraits of our Fearless Five heroes. (These blocks will average 18 X 22 inches apiece. The quilt calls for 16 quilt blocks across by 19 quilt blocks down, which is 304 blocks total (NOT counting the portraits of our beloved heroes). A TOTAL OF 224 quilt blocks for the quilt are needed! (80 quilt blocks equals the area covered by our heroes portraits!) We have four now- we only need 220 more! You do not need to sew anything, just send a 6 inch by 6 inch piece of washable fabric that means something to you and your four legger(s), a note explaining the connection and a photo of your furbaby!!!!

For Sandra and the Pittie Pack

Presented by Frankie Furter in Loving memory, understanding, and friendship for Brinks & Bella and Angels Coco, Shelby, Lucky, Tiger, Guero.

We KNEW that IT was coming. We could Feel IT in the very air. We KNEW we would Not be able to Stop IT, but we Had to Protect our beloved two leggers. We, the Houston Pittie Pack and Wee Ones, Had to make Plans.

From the first moment that we Sensed IT was coming, we were very aware that some of us would need to STAY BEHIND to continue to Love and Protect and Care for our Mommish, Daddish, Grammish , and our Baby Two Legger. That would be a most important assignment. None of us felt worthy. Each believed another possessed the qualities needed to take on the task.

We also admit that we each wanted to take the Easy Path.. The one where we would chase IT completely away... Well beyond the Rainbow.. and then be able to REST on the other side of the Bridge.

Oh the SHAME we felt. WHY? WHY was IT coming to OUR Safe Home? WHY to Sandra's Sanctuary, as we love to call it. And WHY couldn't we Prevent IT's Evil Arrival?

We wanted, but could not find a way to make our people Aware of what was going to happen. WHY couldn't we make the DANGER KNOWN? WHY couldn't we Stop IT? Our saintly mommish had SAVED each and EVERY One of Us. WHY could we not save her from what was going to happen?

OH the GUILT. The Horrible GUILT we all felt. We Should have been able to do for HER what SHE had done fur US. Our Hearts were CRUSHED. We were miserable and felt Useless. OH, the GUILT.

It was Shelby who finally made it clear that we needed to face some difficult facts. We could NOT change the fact that there would be great sadness, but the most important thing of all was to ensure that EVERY ONE of our Humans WOULD SURVIVE and be watched over once we managed to drive IT away.

Shelby made us understand that WE had Mommish, and the other people in our home, to thank for saving US and for showing us such tenderness. It was OUR turn to give back to HER. We, Guero, Shelby, Coco Chanel, Tiger, Lucky, Brinks, and Bella, had known more devotion than any of us ever dreamed possible and it was due to the people who had taken us in and made our lives worth living. Our lives were so wonderful. Not to be measured in the Number of Days ... but by the QUALITY of those days.

There was never a question in our minds.. Mommish, Daddish, Grammish, and the precious baby two legger Must be protected and SAVED. We may not be able to PREVENT, but we Could SAVE, at any cost. SHE saved US we needed to SAVE HER and Her FAMILY.

Who will Go and Who will Stay? We could not decide. We could not VOTE. We resorted to the silly game BONE STUFFIE PAW Bone outweighs Stuffie Stuffie has no Paw and Paw Buries Bone. We had seen people play that with rocks and paper and scissors. Our friends will get a laugh out of that. They will remember how we always Love to have FUN together. Although we enjoyed our game we knew the results would be Serious and must be accepted with Strength and Conviction, just as OUR Mommish has always shown us to do. Yes, we DID enjoy our last game... until we are all together again.

The result of the game was that Brinks and Bella would be the ones entrusted to Remain Behind. They would Comfort and PROTECT in our absence. The rest of us would Drive IT away.

Bella immediately sensed that the little two legger needed to be very close to Mommish and Daddish...especially at NIGHT.. because we were sure that IT would choose the DARKEST TIME to do IT's DARKEST Deed. Bella worked for two days to make the humans AWARE that the two legger baby... was not feeling well and needed to be watched closely... They finally seemed to understand her looks and body language. Bella was finally able to convince the people to move the baby's bed into their bedroom. Bella proved her skill at watching over our little one with all her power.

Brinks would be our Strength.. Our Bone Solid Strength. He would be the one to show Mommish, that all of the days to come, are OUR legacy to HER.

The Plan was ready... we each had our jobs... and when IT came... we did NOT shirk. We Sounded the Alarm and with all our might we Barked and BARKED. IT tried to get to the two leggers but we drove IT back. We gave them the time they needed to get safely away.

Some of the people who were there that night, did not understand that we CHOSE to be where we were.. and to do what we had planned, in order to hold IT at BAY. They foolishly tried to break our concentration. That would have been a disaster. We did not allow it to happen. They didn't realize that WE had everything under control. They didn't KNOW about our PLAN. They did not know that we had been taught to let Nothing stand in the way of what needs to be done. We felt sad that they did not understand our mission. It nearly broke our hearts to hear our names being called and not being able to leave our stations. We stood fast, but hoped that Some Day everyone would understand and forgive us for steadfastly holding IT back.

We took up our positions and we did NOT waver. We began to Bark... Furious Barks.. NOT barks of fear. We Barked our most FIERCE Barks and we were Finally able to Confuse and Frighten IT, and to cause IT to retreat.
We Barked until IT was far enough away that we needed to transform ourselves so that we could continue to drive IT even farther and faster. The FIVE of us made the transition to the other side of the Rainbow Bridge where we could move with the speed and agility needed to pursue the evil thing and to chase IT to a place far beyond where IT could ever harm our dear ones ever again.

We Five are now together, resting with friends we had not seen for a very long time. Brinks and Bella will join us some day, when their jobs are finished. We will never know Why IT chose to attack our beautiful home, but the SHAME and GUILT, which we once felt, have been lifted from our backs. WE saved our people. We did NOT Fail them.
We, the Houston Pittie Pack and Wee Ones, will think often of the night we were able to show OUR devotion.

First up is the Scottie Quilt made for the Rocky Creek Scotties for the 2011 Gift Exchange organized by our beloved Jazzi! Then there is the placemat won by Bailey and Kay of the Sheltie TImes, in the Pet BLogs UNited giveaway hosted by Oskar and his Mom. We hope that they like it, but if not, What's Her Name will redo a placemat for each of the girls so they each have their very own! The pink placemat features Meemo, and was won by Ruthie of K9 Katastrophe as part of the Crossed Paws Auction. WHN could not post a photo sooner as it was a surprise Christmas pressie for Ruthie's Mom Kim for HER Mom. Then we have Syd, the handsome greyhound pal of JD and Max of Crossed Paws. He is showcased on royal blue, befitting a citizen of the United Kingdom. This was ordered by the Mom of JD and Max! We hope that it arrived in time for Father Christmas to have delivered! After SYD is the Baxter quilt- Baxter celebrated his fifthe birthday and Mom made him a quilt. Pastor Michelle wrote and did include a picture of the handsome Goose, and told us that the fabric was used for a bed cover for Goose and for a blanket for Goose . Christmas Quilt for Grandma!

Here is the Christmas Quilt that WHN AND DAD made for WHN's mom- our grandma in South Carolina! It arrived Wednesday but won't be opened until tomorrow! WHN used a pattern from Irish Quilting magazine, and included the red Celtic designs from the same issue, from a different project! It took furever and from the bottom photos, you can see that DAD had to take her in hand and help her out (she was having a major Blonde moment/meltdown and was worried, as usual, about getting it done on time!) We don't have to worry about Grandma reading the blog- she doesn't even have a computer! You can also see some of the cards that WE received in the mail- the pawrents received 6 to our 87 million, and that doesn't include the email ones! We filled the door and the wall next to it. We hear that we will be getting three card holders next year to handle the cards in a more appropriate manner- so that we can drool over them and not let them get damaged by WHN!

WHN hopes that the Sheltie Times liked their place mat from the giveaway, and that everyone else enjoyed their quilted pieces of art.

Offers of blocks and fabric are pouring in! Dachshund Nola has sent a block from her very first blankie! She has posted photos at her blog so rush on over!

MaxDog from South Africa has already put her block together and it goes in the mail tomorrow! Caryl has a great suggestion for our overseas friends concerned with the post and the mailing deadline, which I have cut and pasted below (purple letters)!

This idea may serve to help some of the other bloggers in countries outside the USA...

Is it perhaps possible to choose a square on our behalf (it could be plain or whatever matches your beautiful quilt) and then write a very short message (in quilting pen/permanent marker) from us? This would alleviate the postage dilemma and also fit in with whatever your design may be...? It's just a suggestion, but I will understand if you can't.

We can also use this if you don't have a block to send- just send us a quote fro m you and a photo of your four legged blogger to include with the quilt!

We, the Dachsies With Moxie have decided that What's Her Name doesn't have enough to do, so we volunteered her to make a queen sized quilt for Sandra, the Mom of the Houston Pittie Pack, so that she always has something to remember her babies by! Please help- WHN will need LOTS of 6 X 6 inch squares of washable fabric to include in the quilt! See below for details- WHN cut and pasted the posting from Frankie and Ernie's blog! "Memory Quilt for Sandra is being Planned. It will be Queen Sized and will have the five Angels' likenesses appliqued on it. The quilt will be made by Agnes Bullock... of the Dachsies With Moxie. It will be ready by Valentine's Day. Agnes (affectionately know as.. What's Her Name, by her furbabies) had an even MORE wonderful Idea.. She is willing to put a bit of YOU into the quilt. Agnes will stitch a Small (6 inch SQUARE) bit of cloth that Means something to YOU into the quilt. That way Sandra will have the most PERSONAL tribute to her beloved ones possible.
You have seen some of Agnes' wonderful quilts on Twix, Sarge, and This Blog. She does Wonderful Work!!! It will be something for Sandra to keep for EVER.
If you would like to send a BIT of YOU to be included in the quilt we know that it would mean so much to Sandra. WHAT would work? Bits of your furst Blankie... scraps of beloved Stuffies... material from your favorite BED or a Tee Shirt or other of your "clothes".. heck... even a piece of your Baff Towel. Remember Whatever scrap of TREASURE you choose... must be WASHABLE and it must be Flat... Not like a Collar or a Rope toy.. so that it can actually be stitched into the quilt. I think you get the idea. Just make it be something that has Meaning to YOU. I KNOW... you don't want to cut up a treasure... but it is a small scrap... and that little Hole that is left behind for You to see will help remind you of what you DO have. Small sacrifice on OUR part... to Help Fill a HUGE HOLE in Sandra's World. RIGHT?

Next... I have had several phone conversations with Sarah/Mona & Weenie. That woman is a ROCK. From this point I am going to share a story about a lady that I taught with... whose house burned completely to the ground. Becky and her 5 children were all at school and her husband was out harvesting corn when the fire started... THEY were all SAFE.

Becky was in the yard looking at the smoldering Hole in the ground... and she suddenly started Screaming.... Toilet Bowl Brush... TOILET BOWL BRUSH... Jesus, I don't even have a TOILET BOWL BRUSH. Her soft spoken husband (Bill) in his Southeastern Ohio Drawl said.. That's Okay 'Beck'.. You don't have a GawDamn TORELUT either. I share this with you as a way to help Lighten the mood... and yet ENlighten you about the TOTAL need. When a HOME burns... one is left with none of the MATERIAL things that Made it a HOME... Just the LOVE which will be used to begin again.

Look at all the great pressies we received from our friends, the Feisty Three! a grat tote bag, a fab magnet for the fridge (if WHN put it on the car it would get ruined!), a snow man ball toy (DON'T LOOK FRANKIE!!!!!), can covers for our foodables, a book written just about us and great cookies, which WHN is cruelly doling out a little at a time!) AND a great blogging sign Dad will be hanging in his office tonight!

We snoopervised, but of course WHN forgot to take our pictures! The magnet looks great on our fridge, doesn't it? We have lots of magnets, but this gets the top spot! We are going to allow WHN the use of the dachsie cup and straw, since the straw might poke us in the ye! Now we need to find that wrapping paper- we have Dad's gift tow wrap- we went shopping yesterday and picked up the perfect pressie for him! Aren't the Feisty Three the bestest fureinds?

That's right- the newest Dachsie With Moxie is nine today! Anna Rose was born on 8 December 2002, and has found a place in our pack, ruling her Daddy with an iron, long fur covered paw!

Also, she and Tasha, Queen of the Unstuffed Stuffed Squeaky Toys are glad that PUDDLES is back in Blogville- One shudders to think what this trio of hawt female dachsies will get into!

As you are all aware by now, we, the Dachsies With Moxie were forced to find a new hobby for WHN, in order to keep her out of our furs! Such a blonde dithering going on- you never saw the likes! The last straw was when we met the Mayor in the furs a couple of months ago! She was almost incoherent getting the house ready and getting us ready- BATHS for everyone!!!!!

So, we made her drag out her sewing machine and make an appropriate offering for His Mayoralness and the Furst Parents of Blogville, since they have been such great fureinds since Dad was laid off! The result, the Frankie Quilt! Then, we begged her to make a memorial quilt for our bestest friend Twix the Twixerrific, and she said yes, when she could stop crying. Then we forced her to make something for our favorite girl in Florida, Amber Da Weenie and the rest was history! Then there was the famous Sarge quilt and the matching bandanas for the Mayor, Ernie and Sarge. Now WHN has her own Etsy shop and is staying out of our furs! She is making place mats and pillows and tapestries and quilts, oh my!!!!! She practically lives at Joann's! (Thankfully Dad controls the money or else we would probably be living there, in the quilting section!)The Mom of the Road Dog Tales has given her lots of advice, as has Sasha the Doxie's Mom, AND Sugar's Mom made her the perfect banner for her Etsy shop!

So please help us out- WHN is obsessed with her new sewing machine- she even talks baby talk to it! So, WHN was commissioned by both Sarge's Mom and Frankie's Mom to make Tapestries and Quilts and Placemats and she even kept it a secret! WE wish we had been there when the secrets were revealed, but you can see in the above photo that WHN did ok! Can anyone please find the real Frankie in the photo?

We're BACK!!!!!!

We barely survived the long trek back from New Jersey yesterday- WHAT'S HER NAME did most of the driving again! (When we left last Tuesday, she drove the entire trip, to give Dad a break- THAT trip took almost 12 hours because of the rain and her driving, SHHHHHH!!!!)

We had a great time- it was everyone's first trip to NJ with the exception of WHN, Dad and Ginger. The Thai Master slept in his crate and we only had to stop four times- twice for gas and twice for pee breaks. We loved staying with Aunt Gingie and our grandpawrents. Our first full day, WHN and Dad took the grandpawrents to IKEA for lunch, forgetting about us AND buying us nothing! We were betrayed! However, we showed them who was boss! Thanksgiving Day we had WHN's leftovers from the local diner- she had ordered the chef salad and ate only 1/3 of it, so we had the rest. She even saved us the great parts- the meats and cheeses, so we forgave her for Wednesday!. Friday we were out searching for the Black Friday deals at Joann's and Sears- Dad finally was able to use his birthday money from Uncle Louis and finished up his train layout with Christmas Story accessories and two buildings! WHN really scored big time at Joann's- that woman and her coupons! AND we went to the BEACH!!!!!! Saturday we again went to the beach and later we were again abandoned while our pawrents went to the movies with Mom's BFF and daughter. Then they had the nerve to go out for Chinese, while all we had to eat were Frankie's Chicken Liver Brownies and Slammin Salmon! The injustice of it all! Sunday they went to Mass at the church where they met and were later married- St. Catherine Laboure in MIddletown, NJ. After that they took the train into NYC to have lunch with Uncle Louis, who is Dad's uncle. They also went to Macy's and the Empire State Building- Dad was looking for Buddy the Elf! He even saw Santa Paws while he was at Macy's and WHN saw the Marc Tetro collection, which includes a black and tan short furred dachsie in a painting! They finally got home after totally forgetting about us again! What is up with that? Monday was another beach day- Thai walked in the water again and Tasha and Anna Rose ran up and down. Ginger was busy looking for beach badgers and Chip acted as look out. WHN did laundry and Dad finished packing the car. Yesterday we left at 6 AM- but we could sleep on the way home! Got home around 4 and the car was unloaded while we stretched our legs and then WHN started more laundry- our car beds, blankies and harnesses!

We had a great night's sleep in our bed and everything is back to normal!

We, the Dachsies With Moxie (Ginger, Tasha, Anna Rose, Chip and The Thai Master) wish all of our friends a Happy ThanksDeerMas!!!! We leave tomorrow for our adventure in New Jersey, where we will be waited on hand and paw by our grandpawrents and Aunt Gingie! The car is packed and we leave at 7 AM! No blogging for us till Wednesday and then probably not again until our return the following Tuesday!

OMD- What's Her Name killed her sewing machine! The one her parents gave her over 20 years ago! She was working on something (NOT FOR US, BY THE WAY!) and it went into 87 million weird patterns- wouldn't sew at all! Dad took her to Pins and Needles, in Middleburg Heights, to get an estimate for a repair (thankfully the one she inherited from Aunt Regina still works!), but it was going to cost as much to fix as it cost to purchase! WHN had her eye on a quilting machine at Joann's and had been looking at a Baby Lock one also. (Dad was going to get it for her once he found another job) Any way, the really nice lady at Pins and Needles told Dad that WHN could trade in her machine for a new one, and she showed WHN some realy great ones. As usual, WHN can't make a decision, so Dad, after conferring with us (we were in the car, snoopervising) made one and she got her ThanksDeerMas present early! She is now the proud owner of a Janome 3160 QCD- LOTS of stitches and it quilts! She has been playing with it since Tuesday, negelecting us- does anyone know where we can find a sewing chair that will fit WHN and four dachsies at the same time? These pictures are of the quilt she made for our Grandmaw- she did it in one afternoon! It is of our Aunt Gingie, the red long furred miniature dachsie who lives in NJ with our grandpawrents!

Don't forget, we will be gone starting Tuesday, for a whole week! WE promise to check out our blog and update, but it won't be every day!

Dad's birthday was on Monday! He turned 42 in two legger years, which is way old, but NOT as old as What's Her Name (she is ANCIENT!) Of course, Dad's main gift was Tasha, Queen of the Stuffed Squeaky Toys, but we insisted that he have something to open anyway. WE made WHN take us to WalMart and WE told her to get Dad some really great movies! She got The A-Team, Shanghai Noon and Shanghai Nights, and the Austin Powers trilogy. WE were the hit of the day! Because of the weather, we did not go to Warther's and our backup, The Christmas Story House was also a bust- it was CLOSED! Didn't they get the memo- DAD's birthday is a national holiday! Anna and Tasha were in the thick of the gift opening- both needed to be on Dad's lap! we spent the day watching Dad's new movie collection and then they abandoned us to go out to dinner!

This is a very important holiday here in Northeast Ohio- What's Her Name gets all teary eyed for Veteran's Day and Memorial Day, and we join her and Dad in saying THANKS to those who served! So, to honor her family, Mom is going to name the names of all of her ancestors and family who have served this great nation of ours in the military.

1) Jacob Maple- Revolutionary War- Middlesex (NJ) Militia, Private- Battles of Trenton and Monmouth

2) William Maple (son of Jacob)- War of 1812- Guernsey, County, OH

3) Joseph Black - War of 1812- Guernsey County, OH

4) Albert Gallup Maple (grandson of William)- War Between the States- Union Army- Peoria, Illinois

5) Albert Gain Black (grandson of Albert Gallup Maple and great grandson of Joseph Black)- World War I- served in France 1917 to 1918, 1st Lieutenant . From Peoria, Illinois- buried in Arlington National Cemetery.

6) Robert Gain Black, Sr- (son of Albert G. Black)- Korean War

7) Robert Gain Black, Jr (son of Robert G. Black, Sr and eldest brother of WHN)- both Gulf Wars, Bosnia, etc. retired from US Army as a LTC, Field Artillery

8) What's Her Name- peacetime service in the US Army from 1984 to 1988- commissioned in the Ordnance Corps on the same day that she graduated from college. Served in Italy and Germany and was living in Germany when the Berlin Wall came down.

9) Geoffrey C. Bullock (Dad)- USN Individual Ready Reserve- is currently a LCDR and will retire with 20 years of service in September 2012

Anna Rose update- she is truly a Dachsie With Moxie! Thanks to the First Mom of Blogville (Mayor Frankie's MOm), she is eating SLammin Salmon and chicken liver brownies, mixed in with her prescription U/D diet and kibble! She licks her bowl clean every time! She continues to be a Daddy's girl, but loves to cuddle on the couch with WHN. Looking forward to Thanksgiving- we are travelling to New Jersey to see Dad's family and everybuddy is going! Ten hours by car (includes potty breaks every two hours for WHN) - Only Ginger has seen the Bullock ancestral home and Anna Rose gets to meet her aunt Gingie and the grandpawrents for the first time! We leave the Tuesday before and return the Tuesday following Thanksgiving, so blogging will be light- Don't forget to get your Christmas orders in

It is that time of year again- ordering our favorite photo Christmas cards! What's Her Name, aka Mom, LOVES SHUTTERFLY!!!! She has ordered cards from them in the past, and their fabulous photo books.. In fact, a photo book from Shutterfly was the last gift that she ever ordered for her Dad- it was sent to his nursing home, but as it failed to arrive on time, Shutterfly sent a second one! What a great company! While her Dad was in hospice care, that Shutterfly photo book drew every one together and the memories and stories that were told were wonderful- the photo book was even mentioned by the Episcopalian priest delivering his eulogy! Dad's neighbors and friends were able to see another side of my Dad that they did not know- Dad playing with his kids, watching us grow up, etc. I look at my copy of the book almost everyday, and my Mom still has the second one (the original one showed up at the nursing home after Dad died- the staff had misplaced it, but Shutterly refused to charge me for the second one when I contacted them about what happened.)The photobook has been a great comfort since Dad's death two years ago.

When we moved to Ohio over two years ago, we ordered change of address cards from Shutterfly! Everyone loved them!

Here is the newest member of the DWM- Anna Rose! A beautiful black and tan dappled long fur! She has some health issues, primarily kidney stones (which can only be treated by diet according to the vet) . Anna Banana, as WHN insists on calling her, joined the pack this morning. She fits in perfectly and has already been to PetSmart and Pet Supplies Plus! Please keep her in your prayers- she is not eating since her dental on Thursday and Dr. Parker does not want to give her any vaccinations until she does start eating! (She licked a piece of cheese and piece of her canned special diet, but that is all- She is drinking!)

As usual, WHN is in a dither- yesterday she and Dad cruelly abandoned us to go food shopping! When they got home, there was a message from Miss Sandy, at the vet's office- would they be interested in finding a home for a long furred dapple female named Anna Rose? WHN contacted DRNA and said yes! She is nine, a little round in the tummy, and is having a dental and bladder stone surgery today- Her owners, who are elderly, had to surrender her to the vet since they can no longer afford her foodables. NOW, the hard part- if Anna Rose is a DRNA foster WHN cannot adopt her! What do we do? (Anna Rose comes home tomorrow, but we are going to meet her this afternoon)

His Majesty, Thai the Magnificent, is asking all of his Blogville friends, to help his girlfriend, Miss Pat! She is his persona; trainer and he spent several weeks last year at her dachshund spa, where his frined Butch is king! Butch is in a wheelchair, and is entered into the Blu Buffalo costume contest. We have FLEAS!!!!!!

What's Her Name has been her usual dithery self about us- especially Chip as he had an allergic reaction to rust in the grass and has been taking medication for it. Since he was still itching like crazy, on a very strong medicine, WHN asked about what else it could be when she and Dad took us to the vet for our monthly pickup of yummy prescription foodables and our meds. Can you imagine the look on her face when fleas was the diagnosis! She bought flea combs and Capstar and Frontline for us and we had to take the pills, have a bath in the blue colored Dawn dishwashing liquid and then get the Frontline this morning. WHN and Dad stripped their bed again and washed all of ours too in hot water, to get rid of the fleas. Then Thai's bed room carriage had to be scrubbed, as well as our collars and harnesses. Great fun watching WHN run around like a chicken with its head cut off.

All of this started yesterday morning around 2:30, when Tasha would not stop scratching- WHN gave her a bath, but even that didn't help. Then Chip wouldn't stop either so he had an early morning dunk. Both had their second bath of the day after returning from the vet outing. That was when WHN found the fleas on Ginger and Thai- what a mess! This morning, Chip wouldn't stop scratching and had actually cut himself, so into the bath he went again- no fleas, so hopefully he was just scratching their bite marks. hopefully the Frontline will work.

WHN realized the cause of the flea infestation- the cancelled lawn service would spray and fertilize with a product designed to keep ticks and fleas away for us, and it had to be cancelled when Dad was laid off in August. WHN will be reinstating that treatment asap!

Pleasae pray for Dad- he is attending a day long seminar so he can become a student teacher in Medina. This great idea was from the Mom of the Mayor of Blogville!
